Pamoic acid, also called embonic acid, is a naphthoic acid derivative, used as a counter ion of a drug compound to increase the solubility of the drug in water. Pamoic acid has agonist activity for the orphan G protein-coupled receptor GPR35 by which it activates ERK and beta-arrestin2, and causes antinociceptive activity. Although (like other drug salts) it has been considered an inactive compound by the FDA.

Promethazine hydroxyethyl quaternary derivative of promethazine with antihistamine and anticholinergic properties. The drug lacked the sedative properties of promethazine. It was used in the clinic under tradename Aprobit.
Chlorotheophylline (8-Chlorotheophylline) is a stimulant drug of the xanthine chemical class, with physiological effects similar to caffeine. Its main use is in combination with Diphenhydramine as the antiemetic drug Dimenhydrinate (marketed as Draminate, Dramamine, Detensor and Gravol among others). Dimenhydrinate is primarily used to treat nausea, vomiting, and dizziness caused by motion sickness.The stimulant properties of 8-chlorotheophylline are thought to ward off the drowsiness caused by diphenhydramine's anti-histamine activity in the central nervous system. 8-chlorotheophylline produces a number of effects including nervousness, restlessness, insomnia, headache, and nausea, which are primarily attributed to its ability to block the adenosine receptor. Because adenosine causes a decrease in neuronal firing, blockade of the adenosine receptor causes the reverse effect resulting in excitation.

Phenothiazine, the parent compound of a multitude of present-day drugs, has been employed on an extensive scale for its insecticidal, fungicidal, antibacterial and anthelmintic properties. Phenothiazine was formerly used as an insecticide and as a drug to treat infections with parasitic worms (antihelminthic) in livestock and people. It was introduced as antihelminthic in livestock in 1940 and is considered, with thiabendazole, to be the first modern antihelminthic. Almost a catholicon, its widespread use in animals and man has led to the uncovering of many adverse reactions encompassing effects on blood elements, neuromuscular problems and photosensitization. Its potential side effects have now limited its use. The chemical structure of phenothiazine provides a most valuable molecular template for the development of agents able to interact with a wide variety of biological processes. Synthetic phenothiazines (with aliphatic, methylpiperazine, piperazine-ethanol, piperazine-ethyl, or piperidine side-chain) and/or phenothiazine-derived agents e.g., thioxanthenes, benzepines, imonostilbenes, tricyclic antidepressants, dimetothiazine, and cyproheptadine have been effective in the treatment of a number of medical conditions with widely different etiology. These include various currently clinically used drugs for their significant antihistamic, antipsychotic, anticholinergic (antiparkinson), antipruritic, and/or antiemetic properties.
