Icrocaptide, also known as ITF 1697, a chemically modified LYS-Pro tetrapeptide that was studied to reduce reperfusion injury. The ability of icrocaptide to inhibit the early functions of activated endothelial cells could be used as pharmacological tool in model of pathologies of a variety of microvascular disorders. In addition, tetrapeptide was involved in phase II clinical trials for patients undergoing percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty with or without coronary stenting. As a result, a trend toward reperfusion improvement was seen.

Imexon (INN, trade name Amplimexon) is a substance that is being studied in the treatment of some types of cancer, including pancreatic, lung, breast, prostate, melanoma, and multiple myeloma. Imexon is a thiol-binding small molecule which induces mitochondrial oxidation, a loss of membrane potential and cytochrome C, leading to apoptosis.

Ciamexon is an aziridine derivative with potent immuno-modulating activity developed by German pharmaceutical company Boehringer Mannheim G.m.b.H. for autoimmune diseases treatment. Ciamexon shows promising effects in experimental models of rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes, and obesity without toxic side effects. In animal studies, Ciamexon inhibits the proliferation of autoreactive lymphocytes dose-dependently, without affecting the reaction against foreign antigens. Clinical efficacy evaluation of the Ciamexon in patients with rheumatoid arthritis shows significant, dose-dependent improvement in both the clinical and the biochemical disease activity indexes. The major adverse effects of Ciamexon were hepatotoxicity, diarrhea, and rash.

Eflumast (RP42068; N-(2-hydroxy-3-acetyl-5-fluorophenyl)-5-carboxamido-1H tetrazole) is an antiallergic agent. It was under development as an orally active antiasthmatic.

Diethazine is the antimuscarinic agent. It has actions similar to those of ethopropazine but it is more toxic. Diethazine is used for the palliative treatment of the parkinsonian syndrome. It is more useful in the treatment of Parkinson’s disease than in allergies. Blockade of single contractions observed in these experiments after administration of diethazine was independent of the frequency of stimulation of the nerve. This suggests that the drug acts directly on the postsynaptic receptor in the endplate.

LAFLUNIMUS is an immunomodulator with anti-inflammatory activities. It inhibits prostaglandin endoperoxide H synthases 1 and 2 in vitro and in vivo. It also acts as an immunosuppressive agent being an inhibitor of mitochondrial dihydroorotate dehydrogenase and concomitant reducing agent of pyrimidine nucleotide pools.
