Kynurenic acid is a product of the normal metabolism of amino acid L-tryptophan which has been shown to have a neuroactive profile. It exhibits activity against NMDA receptors and Neuronal acetylcholine receptor subunit alpha-7. It has been investigated as a potential therapeutic compound and as a biomarker in a number of neurological disorders. Although Kenyruic acid exhibits a poor penetration of the blood-brain barrier, it remains to be of particular interest to those researching Schizophrenia.

Prazocillin is 6-aminopenicillanic acid derivative patented by Chinoin Gyogyszer es Vegyeszeti Termekek Gyara Rt. as a bactericidal compound. The activity of Prazocillin against Staphylococcus aureus strains was the same as that of dikloxacillin, but Prazocillin was more active against Bacillus subtilis ATCC 6633. Prazocillin had a bactericidal effect on a penicillin-resistant S. aureus strain at concentrations of 1 μg/ml. Pyrazocillin inhibits bacterial penicillinase in vitro.

Treloxinate is a potent hypolipidemic agent. Treloxinate and its acid are structurally related to clofibrate. The activities of treloxinate and its acid form have been found to be identical. In rats treloxinate is 8 times as potent as clofibrate in reducing plasma cholesterol levels and 30 times as potent in lowering plasma triglyceride concentration.

Aconiazide, the isonicotinylhydrazone of 2-formylphenoxyacetic acid, has been used in the treatment and prophylaxis of tuberculosis. Aconiazide is a pro-drug of isoniazid which was designed to be less toxic than the parent drug. Aconiazide is hydrolyzed in the body to isoniazid and 2-formylphenoxyacetic acid. 2-Formylphenoxyacetic acid has been shown to bind hydrazine and acetylhydrazine. This binding could explain the lower toxicity of aconiazide and also could provide a reason for postulating its lack of carcinogenicity.

Atizoram (CP-80633) is a phosphodiesterase IV inhibitor with bronchodilatory and antiinflammatory properties. It was in phase II trials with Pfizer in the US for the treatment of asthma, atopic dermatitis and psoriasis. Development of atizoram has been discontinued in the asthma indication and no recent development has been reported for the other indications. CP-80633 inhibits PDE4 isozymes (human lung IC50 = 1.27 uM) in the absence of effects on PDE1, PDE2, PDE3 and PDE5 isozymes (IC50 > 100 uM). It exhibits no significant selectivity for any single cloned PDE4A, B, C or D isoform.

Utibapril (FPL 63547) is an ester prodrug of a novel thiadiazoline ACE inhibitor. Utibapril was undergoing phase II clinical studies in the United Kingdom for the treatment of heart failure and hypertension. Utibapril is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor with a proposed tissue-specific inhibitory profile. This implies that at a certain dose, utibapril should be able to inhibit tissue ACE activity without affecting plasma ACE.

Cetylamine is an aliphatic primary amine that possesses surface-active properties and widely used in water treatment. Cetylamine shows moderate anti-tuberculosis activity. Cetylamine also may be used as a source of fluoride in the prevention of dental caries.
