Lauric acid, or dodecanoic acid, is the main acid in coconut oil and in palm kernel oil, and is believed to have antimicrobial properties. The detected values of half maximal effective concentration (EC(50)) of lauric acid on P. acnes, S. aureus, and S. epidermidis growth indicate that P. acnes is the most sensitive to lauric acid among these bacteria. In addition, lauric acid did not induce cytotoxicity to human sebocytes. This data highlight the potential of using lauric acid as an alternative treatment for antibiotic therapy of acne vulgaris. Lauric acid is used in the manufacture of soaps, detergents, cosmetics, and lauryl alcohol.

Behenic acid is a saturated fatty acid that is derived from the oil extracts of plants and used as a component of conditioning agents. Behenic acid is also a part of a novel complex of lipophilic ingredients developed for the treatment of dry skin. The properties of behenic acid were studied in comparison to others fatty acids and it was found that behenic acid does not inhibit the UDP-glucuronosyltransferase (UGT) 1A1 enzyme. The high levels of behenic acid in patients with low-grade glial tumors is an important indicator of the persistence of tissue integrity and tissue resistance. Therefore, behenic acid levels can be a prognostic factor in glial tumors.

SODIUM ANISATE is derived from fennel, this is the sodium salt of p-anisic acid. It is classified as antimicrobial and flavouring. It acts as an anti-fungal agent, and when paired with sodium levulinate the two ingredients make for a comprehensive preservative for cosmetics. This ingredient is approved for use in organic cosmetics. Sodium anisate (dermosoft® anisate) is an easy to use water soluble salt of an organic acid with an excellent fungicidal activity. It can be added to the cold or hot water phase at any step of the process. The combination with antimicrobial surface active substances or organic acids is recommended to improve the performance of the product even at higher pH.

Linalool (3,7-dimethyl-1,6-octadien-3-ol) is a very fragrant component of various herbs such as lavender, mint, and coriander that can be a potent skin irritant, causing contact dermatitis in some sensitive individuals. Linalool is used as a scent in perfumed hygiene products and cleaning agents including soaps, detergents, shampoos, and lotions. Linalool is used by pest professionals as a flea, fruit fly, and cockroach insecticide. It can also be used a method of pest control for codling moths. Linalool creates a synergistic effect with the codling moth's pheromone called codlemone, which increases the attraction of males. Linalool can be absorbed by inhalation of its aerosol and by oral intake or skin absorption, potentially causing irritation, pain and allergic reactions.
Palmitic acid is a saturated fatty acid, the principal constituent of refined palm oil, present in the diet and synthesized endogenously. Palmitic acid is able to activate the orphan G protein-coupled receptor GPR40. Palmitic acid was also a weak ligand of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma. Palmitic acid is a ligand of lipid chaperones - the fatty acid-binding proteins (FABPs). Dietary palm oil and palmitic acid may play a role in the development of obesity, type 2 diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular diseases and cancer.
Ammonium myristate is passage-delaying substance. It was used as a substance for influencing gastrointestinal passage. The addition of ammonium myristate caused a delay of about 1.5 h in the transit time of the absorbing part of the gastrointestinal tract. The addition of ammonium myristate improves the availability of nitrofurantoin from a slow releasing dosage form - an average increase is 23.8% of the total amount of nitrofurantoin excreted in the urine compared to the values obtained from the reference dosage form without the additional substance. The kinetics of renal elimination of nitrofurantoin is characterized by the longer duration of urinary excretion.

Trimetazidine is a medicine, which is used for the treatment of angina pectoris. The drug mechanism of action is explained by its ability to selectively inhibit long-chain 3-ketoacyl coenzyme A thiolase, an enzyme responsible for mitochondrial beta-oxidation of long chain fatty acids. Trimetazidine also increases pyruvate dehydrogenase activity, binds to the mitochondrial membrane, directly inhibits cardiac fibrosis and improves mechanical resistance of the sarcolemma.
