Acetyltryptophan,DL- functions readily as a component of the food in place of the free amino acid - a greater amount of acetyltryptophane,DL- than dl-tryptophane may be available to man. Acetyltryptophan,DL- is used as an additive in the protein microbubbles, used in various biomedical applications such as contrast imaging, targeted drug and gene delivery, delivery of drugs through blood brain barrier (BBB) and IV O2 delivery etc. In the breast cancer biomarkers search, lower levels of endogenous metabolite Acetyltryptophan, DL- was identified in the fluid from the affected breasts compared to the control breast fluid.

Malic acid is a tart-tasting organic dicarboxylic acid that contributes to the taste of many sour or tart foods such as apples. Sodium Malate is the sodium salt of Malic Acid. Malic Acid and Sodium Malate can be found in a wide range of cosmetics and personal care products. Sodium Malate functions as a skin conditioning agent-humectant. As a food additive, Sodium Malate has the E number E350. Sodium Malate has demonstrated protective effect on cisplatin-induced toxicity in mice. Sodium malate could become a useful agent for the reduction of CDDP-induced toxicity, particularly nephrotoxicity and hepatotoxicity.

Atosiban (brand name Tractocile) is a competitive antagonist of human oxytocin at receptor level. In rats and guinea pigs, atosiban was shown to bind to oxytocin receptors, to decrease the frequency of contractions and the tone of the uterine musculature, resulting in a suppression of uterine contractions. Atosiban was also shown to bind to the vasopressin receptor, thus inhibiting the effect of vasopressin. Tractocile is indicated to delay imminent pre-term birth in pregnant adult women with: − regular uterine contractions of at least 30 seconds duration at a rate of ≥ 4 per 30 minutes − a cervical dilation of 1 to 3 cm (0-3 for nulliparas) and effacement of ≥ 50% − a gestational age from 24 until 33 completed weeks − a normal foetal heart rate. Atosiban does not have U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval for use in the United States.

Calcium ferrocyanide is used as anti-caking agent. Known as E-538 food additive. Calcium ferrocyanide, because of the strong chemical bond between iron and the cyanide groups, theses salts have a low toxicity. Sodium ferrocyanide (E 535), potassium ferrocyanide (E 536) and calcium ferrocyanide (E 538) are permitted in salt and its substitutes at the level of 20 mg/kg (calculated as anhydrous potassium ferrocyanide) individually or in combination.

Tanshinone IIA is a derivative of phenanthrene-quinone isolated from Danshen, a widely used Chinese herbal medicine. It has antioxidant properties and cytotoxic activity against multiple human cancer cell lines, inducing apoptosis and differentiation of some human cancer cell lines. It was found, that tanshinone IIA might have potential anticancer activity on breast cancers through upregulation and downregulation of multiple genes involved in cell cycle regulation, cell proliferation, apoptosis, signal transduction, transcriptional regulation, angiogenesis, invasive potential and metastatic potential of cancer cells. ADPRTL1 might be the main target at which tanshinone IIA acted. Recently was discovered that tanshinone IIA exerts its cardio protective effects against H2O2-induced cell death by upregulating the expression of Bcl-2 via the activation of the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway, however, further studies are required in order to define and clarify the rationale for its clinical use.

Targets:

Miriplatin is a novel lipophilic platinum complex that was developed to treat hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Miriplatin hydrate was approved by Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency of Japan (PMDA) on Oct 16, 2009. It was developed and marketed as Miripla® by Dainippon Sumitomo Pharma on Jan 20, 2010 in Japan. Miriplatin hydrate is a lipophilic platinum complex that has high affinity to lipiodol. It is indicated for the treatment of transcatheter arterial chemoembolization of hepatocellular carcinoma. Miripla® is available as lyophilized powder for arterial injection, containing 70 mg of free Miriplatin. The recommended dose is 70 mg once daily.
