β-Hexachlorcyclohexane is a byproduct of the production of insecticide lindane (γ-hexachlorocyclohexane). Technical grade hexachlorocyclohexane contains about 5-12% of technical grade hexachlorocyclohecane. Elevated levels of β-Hexachlorcyclohexane in blood was linked with risk of Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease. β-Hexachlorcyclohexane is a xenoestrogen and promotes growth and invasiveness of breast tumor cell lines.

β-Zearalenol is a nonsteroidal estrogen of the resorcylic acid lactone group related to mycoestrogens found in Fusarium spp. β-Zearalenol is the β epimer of α-zearalenol and along with α-zearalenol is a major metabolite of zearalenone formed mainly in the liver but also to a lesser extent in the intestines during the first-pass metabolism. β-Zearalenol is about the same or slightly less potent as an estrogen relative to zearalenone. Contamination of grains by Fusarium species, notably maize, gives rise to high levels of zearalenol and is regarded as an important food quality issue for both human and animal health.

Betadex is a nonreducing cyclic compound composed of seven alpha-(1-4) linked D-glucopyranosyl units. It is a pharmacologically inactive substance. Betadex is useful for stabilizing, solubilizing or delivering intermediate size molecules. Cyclodextrins are cyclic oligosaccharides that have been used to modulate the composition of cholesterol and other lipids in biological membranes and have also been used as pharmaceutical excipients in the formulation of hydrophobic drugs. More recently, 2-Hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrins (HPβCDs) have gained attention as a potential therapeutic intervention for Niemann-Pick Disease Type C1 (NPC1) disease. HPβCDs are complex mixtures of different species, and variations in production may lead to differences in composition. 2-Hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin dose-dependent effects against dysfunctional intracellular cholesterol trafficking in NPC1 cells.

Altrenogest (INN, USAN, BAN) (brand name Regumate), also known as allyltrenbolone, is a steroidal progestin that is widely used in veterinary medicine to suppress estrus in animals. Altrenogest is an orally active progestin developed for use in the horse. Altrenogest has been chemically modified by addition of a hydroxyl group and 3 carbon chain placed on carbon 17 of the progestin. Research has demonstrated that Altrenogest has low anabolic activity and is 20 times less potent than testosterone or similar progestins when compared for effects on muscle growth in castrated rats
