Cinnamedrine is an active ingredient of midol (a combination of cinnamedrine hydrochloride, aspirin, phenacetin, and caffeine) used to relieve dysmenorrhea. Midol was an over-the-counter drug, which was discontinued due to a marketing decision.
Ifenprodil (marketed under the brands Vadilex; Dilvax; Creocral; Cerocral) is a selective NMDA receptor (glutamate) antagonist. Additionally, ifenprodil inhibits GIRK channels, and interacts with alpha1 adrenergic, serotonin, and sigma receptors. Ifenprodil acts as a vasodilator. Ifenprodil is a medicine available in a number of countries worldwide, but not in US.

Benzylthiouracil is a drug with anti-thyroid activity. It was developed for the treatment of multinodular goiter and hyperthyroidism. Benzylthiouracil treatment associated with severe adverse effects. It has been observed to be associated with antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody-positive vasculitis, resulting in crescentic glomerulonephritis. Benzylthiouracil induced ANCA associated glomerulonephritis in patients with Graves' disease. Benzylthiouracil induces toxic hepatitis and lung damage.

Trimebutine [3,4,5-trimethoxybenzoic acid 2-(dimethylamino)-2-phenylbutylester] is a noncompetitive spasmolytic agent. The actions of trimebutine on the gastrointestinal tract are mediated via (i) an agonist effect on peripheral mu, kappa and delta opiate receptors and (ii) release of gastrointestinal peptides such as motilin and modulation of the release of other peptides, including vasoactive intestinal peptide, gastrin and glucagon. Trimebutine attenuated colonic motility mainly through the inhibition of L-type Ca(2+) channels at higher concentrations, whereas, at lower concentrations, it depolarized membrane potentials by reducing BK(ca) currents, resulting in the enhancement of the muscle contractions.Trimebutine accelerates gastric emptying, induces premature phase III of the migrating motor complex in the intestine and modulates the contractile activity of the colon. It is indicated for the treatment and relief of symptoms associated with the irritable bowel syndrome (spastic colon); and in postoperative paralytic ileus in order to accelerate the resumption of the intestinal transit following abdominal surgery.

Nordefrin is a catecholamine sympathomimetic used as a topical nasal decongestant and vasoconstrictor. Nordefrin is a racemic mixture of levo- and dextro- isomers and levonordefrin to be 100 to 200 times more active than dextro-nordefrin in raising blood pressure. Nordefrin is a structural isomer of epinephrine and levonordefrin produced a greater increase in heart rate than epinephrine.

Clobutinol is a cough suppressant that is withdrawn from the US and EU markets. Clobutinol was used for the short-term treatment of irritable, non-productive cough (a ‘dry' cough where the patient does not cough up any phlegm or mucus). Medicines containing clobutinol have been available since 1961 and were authorised in a number of Member States. Clobutinol-containing medicines were available in Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Germany, Greece, Finland and France. They include tablets, oral solutions, syrups and solutions for injection, and were available over-the-counter in many Member States. Clobutinol was available as generic and branded medicines, most of which were marketed by Boehringer Ingelheim under the trade name Silomat. Studies in 2004 had indicated that clobutinol has the potential to prolong the QT interval. In 2007, Clobutinol was determined to cause cardiac arrhythmia in some patients.
Mebhydrolin (INN) or mebhydroline is a histamine H1-receptor antagonist. It is not available in the United States, but it is available in various other countries under the brand names Bexidal and Diazolin. It is used for symptomatic relief of allergic symptoms caused by histamine release, including nasal allergies and allergic dermatosis.

Racecadotril (acetorphan) is an oral enkephalinase inhibitor for use in the treatment of acute diarrhea. Racecadotril reduces hypersecretion of water and electrolytes into the intestinal lumen, by preventing the degradation of endogenous enkephalins. Treatment with racecadotril reduces the incidence and duration of acute diarrhea and reduces diarrhea-associated symptoms compared with placebo in adults. Racecadotril treatment also results in significant reductions in stool output compared with placebo in infants and young children aged 2 months to 4 years with acute diarrhea. Both rotavirus-negative and rotavirus-positive infections appear to respond to treatment in the pediatric populations investigated for this infection. Racecadotril shows similar or slightly reduced efficacy to loperamide in the treatment of diarrhea in adults and children aged up to 10 years. However, in comparative trials, racecadotril was associated with fewer adverse events than loperamide, in particular, post-treatment constipation. Racecadotril is available in France (where it was first introduced in ~1990) and other European countries (including Germany, Italy, the UK, Spain and the Czech Republic) as well as most of South America and some South East Asian countries (including China, India and Thailand), but not in the United States.
