Ethanolamine oleate is a salt of ethanolamine, a basic substance, and oleic acid. It is marketed under a trade name of Ethamoline as a sclerotic agent for the treatment of patients with esophageal varices that have recently bled, to prevent rebleeding. In vitro studies revealed that ethanolamine oleate inhibits fibrin clot formation because of the Ca2+-chelating ability of its constituent ethanolamine. Nevertheless, from in vivo studies it was suggested that intravascular injection of ethamoline activates the local coagulation system. The activation may be accelerated by an acute inflammatory process provoked by oleate, which is supported by such clinical manifestations as mild fever, retrosternal pain leukocytosis and an increase in plasma fibrinogen level.

FLUORIDE ION F-18 (as sodium fluoride F-18) is a radioactive diagnostic agent for positron emission tomography (PET) indicated for imaging of bone to define areas of altered osteogenic activity. FLUORIDE ION F-18 normally accumulates in the skeleton in an even fashion, with greater deposition in the axial skeleton (e.g. vertebrae and pelvis) than in the appendicular skeleton and greater deposition in the bones around joints than in the shafts of long bones. Increased FLUORIDE ION F-18 deposition in the bone can occur in areas of increased osteogenic activity during growth, infection, malignancy (primary or metastatic) following trauma, or inflammation of the bone.

Olaflur (amine fluoride 297, trade name elmex gel) is a fluoride-containing substance that is an ingredient of toothpastes and solutions for the prevention of dental caries. Especially in combination with dectaflur, it is also used in the form of gels for the treatment of early stages of caries, sensitive teeth, and by dentists for the refluoridation of damaged tooth enamel. Olaflur is a salt consisting of an alkyl ammonium cation and fluoride as the counterion. With a long lipophilic hydrocarbon chain, the cation has surfactant properties. It forms a film layer on the surface of teeth, which facilitates incorporation of fluoride into the enamel. The top layers of the enamel's primary mineral, hydroxylapatite, are converted into the more robust fluorapatite. The fluoridation reaches only a depth of a few nanometres, which has raised doubts whether the mechanism really relies on the formation of fluorapatite.

Calcium lactate is the salt that consists of two lactate anions for each calcium cation (Ca2+); this salt is used as a calcium supplement to treat hypocalcemia. However, as a source of free calcium, this salt is less convenient than calcium citrate. Calcium lactate inhalation powder also called as PUR118 participated in phase I clinical trials to determine whether this formulation was safe and tolerable in a population of subjects with Cystic Fibrosis (CF). PUR118 also was used in another clinical trials to evaluate its effect on ozone-induced airway Inflammation in healthy normal volunteers in case of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). The obtained results revealed that PUR118 reduced the severity of acute exacerbations in COPD and CF and had the beneficial impacts on mortality, morbidity, and quality of life in affected individuals. However, both studies were discontinued.

Burow invented an astringent antiseptic solution of aluminium acetate in water to relieve the itching and inflammation of minor skin irritations. At present the oflicial U. S. P. procedure to made Burow's solution involves the reaction of aluminum sulfate, calcium carbonate and acetic acid to form aluminum sub-acetate, also termed basic aluminum acetate. The solution is available as an over-the-counter drug for topical administration, with brand names including Domeboro. Burow's solution has been shown to be effective against chronic suppurative otitis media and otitis externa. It is active against bacteria resulting in damage to the cell wall.

Calcium Cation Ca-45 is a calcium radioactive isotope which used for evaluation of calcium absorption and intracellular concentration in scientific research. There are several calcium radionuclides available, including 41Ca, 45Ca, and 47Ca. For practical reasons, 45Ca is the most commonly used calcium radionuclide for biological investigations.

Calcium Cation Ca-47 is a rare calcium radioactive isotope which used in orthopaedics for bone formation evaluation. Calcium-47 has a half-life of about five days, which is long enough for numerous biological investigations and short enough to ensure that the person subjected to the investigation is not under prolonged irradiation. It emits gamma rays in addition to beta rays, and since the gamma rays are capable of penetrating many centimeters of tissue, determination of calcium-47 in the body is possible by external measurements. Unfortunately, calcium-47 is difficult to produce and did not use in routine medical practice

7β-hydroxycholesteryl-3-oleate has been shown to inhibit astrogliosis and intracranial glioblastoma growth. Local administration of 7β-hydroxycholesteryl-3-oleate inhibits growth of experimental rat C6 glioblastoma. These data suggest that 7β-hydroxycholesteryl-3-oleate might be useful for local glioblastoma chemotherapy. 7β-hydroxycholesteryl-3-oleate is a potent inhibitor of the endogenous cholesterol biosynthesis in brain showing a correlation between cholesterogenesis and reactive astrocyte proliferation. 7β-hydroxycholesteryl-3-oleate can reduce the astrocytic reaction following spinal cord injury, promoting the serotonergic reinnervation of a denervated territory. On 17 December 2010, orphan designation (EU/3/10/816) was granted by the European Commission to Intsel Chimos SA, France, for 7-beta-hydroxy cholesteryl-3-beta-oleate for the treatment of glioma. The substance is going to be injected directly into the brain tumour contained within liposomes, which are expected to carry the medicine into the glioma cells.
