Gallopamil is a L-type calcium channel blocker designed for the treatment of coronary heart diseases: angina pectoris, prinzmetal angina and hypertonia.
Amezinium is a sympathomimetic used for its vasopressor effects in the treatment of hypotensive states. Amezinium inhibited monoamine oxidase (MAO) activity. Amezinium antagonized the response to tyramine and blocked neuronal uptake of noradrenaline. Side effects revealed are: palpitation, headache, nausea/vomiting, hot flashes, high blood pressure.

Conditions:

Imidapril (Tanatril), through its active metabolite imidaprilat, acts as an ACE inhibitor to suppress the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II and thereby reduce total peripheral resistance and systemic blood pressure (BP). In clinical trials, oral imidapril was an effective antihypertensive agent in the treatment of mild to moderate essential hypertension. Some evidence suggests that imidapril also improves exercise capacity in patients with chronic heart failure (CHF) and reduces urinary albumin excretion rate in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus. Imidapril was well tolerated, with a lower incidence of dry cough than enalapril or benazepril, and is a first choice ACE inhibitor for the treatment of mild to moderate essential hypertension.

Chromonar is a coronary vasodilator agent, it dilates coronary vessels and increases coronary blood flow volume rate, contributes to the development of collateral circulation (with prolonged use), improves metabolic processes in myocardium. The mechanism of action of a role played by its inhibitory effect on phosphodiesterase, accompanied by accumulation in the cells of cyclic 3 ', 5'-adenosine monophosphate. Due to the relatively low therapeutic efficacy Chromonar use is limited, mainly in the early stages of coronary heart disease with angina pectoris in the absence of long-standing and long strokes, when there is no expressed stenotic process.

Buflomedil (trade name Loftyl) is a vasoactive drug used to treat claudication or the symptoms of peripheral arterial disease. Buflomedil has been used for people with diseases of the leg arteries and has shown some benefits for people with a previous stroke. The most common type of stroke is due to narrowing or blockage of an artery in the brain (i.e. ischaemic stroke). Buflomedil is a drug that can dilate brain blood vessels, which may have benefit for people with ischaemic stroke. However, it has not been approved to treat stroke in clinical practice. In 2012 the European Medicines Agency has completed a review of the safety and effectiveness of buflomedil-containing medicines, both oral and injectable, due to severe neurological and cardiac side effects seen with buflomedil. The Agency’s Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) concluded that the benefits of buflomedil do not outweigh its risks, and has recommended that all marketing authorisations for medicines containing buflomedil should be suspended throughout the European Union (EU).

Glucose is a sugar with the molecular formula C6H12O6. The D-isomer (D-glucose), also known as dextrose, occurs widely in nature, but the L-isomer (L-glucose) does not. Glucose is made during photosynthesis from water and carbon dioxide, using energy from sunlight. The reverse of the photosynthesis reaction, which releases this energy, is a very important source of power for cellular respiration. Glucose is stored as a polymer, in plants as starch and in animals as glycogen, for times when the organism will need it. Glucose circulates in the blood of animals as blood sugar. Glucose can be obtained by hydrolysis of carbohydrates such as milk, cane sugar, maltose, cellulose, glycogen etc. It is however, manufactured by hydrolysis of cornstarch by steaming and diluting acid. Glucose is the human body's key source of energy, through aerobic respiration, providing about 3.75 kilocalories (16 kilojoules) of food energy per gram. Breakdown of carbohydrates (e.g. starch) yields mono- and disaccharides, most of which is glucose. Use of glucose as an energy source in cells is by either aerobic respiration, anaerobic respiration, or fermentation. All of these processes follow from an earlier metabolic pathway known as glycolysis. The insulin reaction, and other mechanisms, regulate the concentration of glucose in the blood. Glucose supplies almost all the energy for the brain, so its availability influences psychological processes. When glucose is low, psychological processes requiring mental effort (e.g., self-control, effortful decision-making) are impaired. Ingested glucose is absorbed directly into the blood from the intestine and results in a rapid increase in the blood glucose level. Glucose is used to manage hypoglycemia and for intravenous feeding. Nausea may occur after ingesting glucose, but this also may be an effect of the hypoglycemia which is present just prior to ingestion. Other adverse effects include increased blood glucose, injection site leakage of fluid (extravasation), injection site inflammation, and bleeding in the brain.

Ergoloid mesylates (USAN), co-dergocrine mesilate (BAN) or dihydroergotoxine mesylate, trade name Hydergine, is a mixture of the methanesulfonate salts of three dihydrogenated ergot alkaloids (dihydroergocristine, dihydroergocornine, and alpha- and beta-dihydroergocryptine). It was developed by Albert Hofmann (the inventor of LSD) for Sandoz (now part of Novartis). Ergoloid mesylates act centrally, decreasing vascular tone and slowing the heart rate, and acts peripherally to block alpha-receptors. One other possible mechanism is the effect of ergoloid mesylates on neuronal cell metabolism, resulting in improved oxygen uptake and cerebral metabolism, thereby normalizing depressed neurotransmitter levels. Ergoloid Mesylate may increase cerebral metabolism and blood flow. The role of this medication in the therapy of dementia is controversial. A recent controlled study in patients with Alzheimer's disease found that there was no advantage to the use of ergoloid mesylates compared to placebo, suggesting that ergoloid mesylates may lower scores on some cognitive and behavioral rating scales. Further study is needed to determine the risk-benefit profile of ergoloid mesylates in the treatment of dementia.
Polidocanol is a non-ionic surfactant sclerosing agent indicated to treat uncomplicated spider veins and uncomplicated reticular veins in the lower extremity. Polidocanol also is indicated for the treatment of incompetent great saphenous veins, accessory saphenous veins, and visible varicosities of the great saphenous vein system above and below the knee. When administered, polidocanol locally damages blood vessel endothelium. Following the endothelial damage, platelets aggregate at the site and attach to the venous wall eventually resulting in a dense network of platelets, cellular debris, and fibrin that occludes the vessel. Eventually the vessel is replaced by connective fibrous tissue. Adverse reactions include pain in extremity, infusion site thrombosis, contusion/injection site hematoma, limb discomfort and some others.
