Terutroban (S18886), a specific thromboxane A2 receptor antagonist, which improves endothelial function and has an antiatherosclerotic effect. The compound is under development by Servier for the potential treatment of cardiovascular diseases and coronary artery disease. In addition, it participated in phase III clinical trials PERFORM (Prevention of cerebrovascular and cardiovascular Events of ischemic origin with teRutroban in patients with a history oF ischemic strOke or tRansient ischeMic attack), but this study was stopped, and the result was not achieved.

Conditions:

Difloxacin is an aryl fluoroquinolone derivative. The primary bacterial target of fluoroquinolones is the enzyme deoxyribonucleic acid gyrase. Difloxacin is very potent against a broad spectrum of bacteria including aerobic ana anaerobic gram-positive and gram-negative oragnisms. DICURAL® (difloxacin hydrochloride) TABLETS are indicated for the management of diseases in dogs associated with bacteria susceptible to difloxacin.

Conditions:

Epinine or deoxyepinephrine is an active form of Ibopamine, which is used as a cardiovascular agent in congestive heart failure. Epinine is a stimulant of alpha-adrenoceptor activities: alpha-1 and alpha-2. Experiments on pig’s eyes have shown that epinine can be a promising candidate substance for intraoperative (e.g., cataract surgery) intracameral use in humans.

Psilocybin is a naturally occurring psychedelic prodrug compound produced by more than 200 species of mushrooms, collectively known as psilocybin mushrooms. Once ingested, psilocybin is rapidly metabolized to the psilocin, which then acts on serotonin receptors in the brain. Psilocybin was identified as the active hallucinogenic compound in magic mushrooms in 1959, but humans have used assorted psilocybin mushrooms in religious ceremonies since prehistoric times. In the 1960's psilocybin was marketed for use as a treatment for various psychoses, however, it was withdrawn from the market when the regulatory environment changed. Recently there has been as renewed interest in studying the medicinal uses of psilocybin for treatment of anxiety, depression, migraine headaches, addictions, and other neuropsychiatric conditions.
