Propyliodone (INN, trade name Dionosil) is a molecule used as a contrast medium. It was developed by a team at Imperial Chemical Industries in the late 1930s. Propyliodone used as radiopque medium for brochographic use. When directly instilled into the bronchi resulting in well-defined bronchograms for atleast 30 min. Because of its toxicity, Propyliodone should only be used if absolutely essential. It is of Synthetic origin and belongs to Iodinated Radio-opaque Compounds. It belongs to Radiopaque Agents pharmacological group on the basis of mechanism of action and also classified in Diagnostic Aids pharmacological group. Oral absorption of Propyliodone is found to be 101% and metabolism is reported Lungs and Gut wall. Propyliodone is primarily indicated in conditions like Paget's disease of bone, Radiological contrast agent. Propyliodone produces potentially life-threatening effects which include Fever, Anaphylaxis, Repiratory obstruction, Cerebral embolization, which are responsible for the discontinuation of Propyliodone therapy. The signs and symptoms that are produced after the acute overdosage of Propyliodone include Airway obstruction. The symptomatic adverse reactions produced by Propyliodone are more or less tolerable and if they become severe, they can be treated symptomatically, these include Headache, Fever, Malaise, Nausea and vomiting, Aching joints.

Gallamine triethiodide is a synthetic nondepolarizing blocking drug, which is allosteric antagonist of muscarinic M2 acetylcholine receptor and inhibitor of acetylcholinesterase. It was used under brand name flaxedil to stabilize muscle contractions during surgical procedures. However, this usage was discontinued. It was shown, that gallamine caused tachycardia by depressing the vagus nerve and, occasionally, hypertension and increased cardiac output.

Khellin is a crystalline extract of a crude drug, which has long been used in Egypt for the treatment of ureteral colic. It is used in the management of bronchial asthma and angina pectoris. Interest in khellin as an adjunct to ultraviolet (UV) light therapy in the treatment of vitiligo is based on the structural similarity between khellin and the psoralens. Success has been reported using oral and topical khellin in clinical studies but it is not likely that khellin will be approved for the treatment of vitiligo. Unwanted side effects of khellin include dizziness, reversible cholestatic jaundice, pseudoallergic reaction, and elevated levels of liver enzymes (transaminases and gamma-glutamyltransferase).

Hydrastinine is a synthetic alkaloid prepared by various processes from either hydrastine, berberine, or narcotine. It exerts a strong stimulating action on the uterus of all species studied, including human. Hydrastinine and the closely related alkaloid cotarnine have been employed as hemostatics, particularly in abnormal uterine conditions. In the non-pregnant animal, hydrastinine in doses of 10 mg. depressed both tonus and activity, even after the section of the hypogastric. In the pregnant cat, it caused the uterus to contract. A stimulant action was also noted in the non-pregnant animal if nicotine were administered prior to hydrastinine. The rabbit uterus in situ was strongly contracted. Laidlaw believed that hydrastinine acted on the uterus both directly on the smooth muscle and also through its sympathetic innervation. Repeated administration of large doses for a period of time resulted in greatly increased amplitude of contractions which persisted after removal of the drug. The drug was patented by Bayer as a haemostatic drug during the 1910s.
