D-Psicose (akaD-allulose) is a low energy monosaccharide found throughout nature in small quantities. t is a c-3 epimer of D-fructose and has 50% the sweetness of sucrose. Possible health benefits include improved insulin resistance, antioxidant enhancement and formation, and hypoglycemic controls. The use US-FDA lists psicose as generally recognized as safe (GRAS) and has approved its use as a food additive in a wide variety of products. Psicose is not generally metabolized and does not raise blood sugar levels above baseline after consumption. In addition, to use as a low-calorie sweetener, psicose has also been formally investigated as a dietary supplement to control obesity and pre-diabetic insulin insensitivities. Furthermore, D-psicose has shown the ability to inhibit the proliferation of ovarian cancer cells in vitro.

Toluidine Blue (also known as tolonium chloride or Toluidine blue O) is metachromatic dye used for a variety of histological staining, it selectively stains acidic tissue components (sulfates, carboxylates, and phosphate radicals. Toluidine blue has an affinity for nucleic acids, and therefore binds to nuclear material of tissues with a high DNA and RNA content. It was evaluated the toluidine blue staining in premalignancies, and superficial oral ulceration suggesting malignancy. The study showed 100% sensitivity in the detection of in situ and invasive carcinoma and no false-negative results occurred. The lesions that were diagnosed as dysplasia did not retain stain, and thus gave false-negative results. The reasons could be that the exact mechanisms by which the dye differentially stains malignant or dysplastic tissues remain unknown.

Dextrorphan is an active metabolite of dextromethorphan, is an antitussive agent, which was found in cough medicines. Dextrorphan is a noncompetitive N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (NMDAR) antagonist, sigma 1 receptor agonist, so as is an agonist of mu and kappa opioid receptors. In addition was found, that dextrorphan possessed anticonvulsive and neuroprotective effects.

8-Hydroxy-7-iodo-5-quinolinesulfonic acid (Ferron) showed fungistatic effect for Candida and for M. canis and T. mentagrophytes. Resotren is a chemical combination of chloroquine and iodohydroxyquinoline and, taken by mouth, is poorly absorbed and reaches the lower bowel in considerable concentration. Resotren is effective in both intestinal and extra-intestinal amoebiasis. Al-Ferron timed spectrophotometry assay is a basic method in the study on the formation of polynuclear hydroxyl aluminum species and their transformation laws in aqueous systems.

8-Azaguanine is a purine analog which resembles guanine close enough to compete with it in the metabolism of living organisms. It has been widely studied and has shown to cause retardation of some malignant neoplasms when administered to tumors in animals. It has been used for the treatment of patients with leukemia.

Paeonol (2-hydroxy-4-methoxyacetophenone) is a major phenolic component of the dried root bark of Paeonia suffruticosa Andrews (Paeoniaceae). Paeonol exhibits a wide variety of bioactivities including anti-inflammatory, antioxidative, immunoregulatory, antihypertensive, anti-hyperglycemic, antibacterial, anti-thrombotic, and antitumor effects. Paeonol inhibits anaphylactic reaction by regulating histamine and TNF-α. Paeonol tablets have been used for the treatment of rheumatic arthritis, fever, headache and neuralgia in Chinese clinics.

5-Methoxytryptamine (aka 5-MT, mexamine) is a tryptamine derivative closely related to the neurotransmitters serotonin and melatonin. 5-MT is produced endogenously at low levels; it is biosynthesized by deacetylation of melatonin in the pineal gland. 5-MT acts as a full agonist at the 5-HT1, 5-HT2, 5-HT4, 5-HT6, and 5-HT7 receptors. It is often used as a chemical probe in the study of serotonin receptors, but it has also been used in a clinical trial to mitigate the anemic effects of cisplatin chemotherapy.

Isoxepac (also known) as HP-549 is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug with analgesic activity. Isoxepac was studied in the clinical trial for the treatment of postoperative pain after knee surgery for meniscectomy. It was shown, that 200 mg of isoxepac would appear to be the minimal effective dose. In case of rheumatoid arthritis, isoxepac showed significantly fewer adverse effects.
