Conditions:
Sodium 2-Mercaptobenzothiazole (sodium MBT) is utilized as a
corrosion inhibitor and fungicide. By analogy to MBT, sodium MBT
is identified as a skin sensitizer. Sodium 2-Mercaptobenzothiazole is also used to make rubber accelerators, as a preservative for latex paint and wood, a metal chelator, and a thermal stabilizer (methyl methacrylate copolymers, acrylonitrile polymers, polyester fibers, anion exchange resins, polyoxyphenylene, and silicon fluids), also used in electroplating (silver, nickel, and cobalt), to separate sulfide ore from copper ore, for dyeing textiles, in transmission fluids, and to prevent discoloration of freeze dried bananas; uses of 50% aqueous solution include as a corrosion inhibitor for nonferrous metals in antifreeze and coolants and in paper mill systems; used as a biocide in metalworking fluids and paper manufacturing.

Nedocromil is a medication considered as mast cell stabilizer used to treat itching associated with allergic conjunctivitis. Nedocromil has been shown to inhibit the in vitro activation of, and mediator release from, a variety of inflammatory cell types associated with asthma, including eosinophils, neutrophils, macrophages, mast cells, monocytes, and platelets. Nedocromil inhibits activation and release of inflammatory mediators such as histamine, prostaglandin D2 and leukotrienes c4 from different types of cells in the lumen and mucosa of the bronchial tree. These mediators are derived from arachidonic acid metabolism through the lipoxygenase and cyclo-oxygenase pathways. The mechanism of action of nedocromil may be due partly to inhibition of axon reflexes and release of sensory neuropeptides, such as substance P, neurokinin A, and calcitonin-geneñrelated peptides. The result is inhibition of bradykinin-induced bronchoconstriction. Nedocromil does not possess any bronchodilator, antihistamine, or corticosteroid activity. Nedocromil is indicated for the treatment of itching associated with allergic conjunctivitis.

Oxolinic acid is a synthetic quinolone antibiotic related to nalidixic acid. It is authorized in veterinary medicine for use in finfish, calves, pigs, and poultry. It acts by inhibiting bacterial type II topoisomerase activity. Oxolinic acid has been used in human medicine in several countries in the past. Clemizole is a drug in clinical development for the treatment of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. Clemizole is a novel inhibitor of TRPC5 channels. Clemizole is an H1 antagonist. Clemizole, an antihistamine drug that was once widely used for treatment of allergic disease, was recently discovered to be a potent inhibitor (IC50, 24 nM) of the interaction between an HCV protein (NS4B) and HCV RNA. Although clemizole was widely used during the 1950s and 1960s, this was before contemporary regulatory requirements were established for new drug development, and there is very minimal information about its pharmacokinetics and metabolism.

Phenylbutazone is an anti-inflammatory drug, which binds to and inactivates cyclooxygenases and prostacyclin synthase through peroxide (H2O2) mediated deactivation. The reduced production of prostaglandin leads to reduced inflammation of the surrounding tissues. Phenylbutazone was marked under the brand name butazolidin for the treatment rheumatoid arthritis and gout, but then this usage was discontinued. In addition, phenylbutazone is used in UK for the treatment of ankylosing spondylitis, but only in those cases, when other therapies are unsuitable.
