Pregnenolone succinate is a synthetic pregnane steroid and an ester of pregnenolone which is described as a glucocorticoid and anti-inflammatory drug and has been patented and marketed as a topical medication in the form of a cream for the treatment of allergic, pruritic, and inflammatory dermatitis. In addition to its glucocorticoid effects, pregnenolone succinate has been found to act as a negative allosteric modulator of the GABAA receptor and a positive allosteric modulator of the NMDA receptor similarly to pregnenolone sulfate.

Dimethyl succinate is the inactive analog of dimethyl fumarate. Dimethyl succinate has a pleasant, ethereal, winey odor and a fruity, winey, and burning flavor. It is used in foods as a flavoring ingredient. Dimethyl succinate was found at increased concentrations in the culture medium of the lung cancer cell line A549 and in the urine of mice implanted with A549 cells. Dimethyl succinate could be used to prolong the insulinotropic action of GLP-1 in the treatment of type-2 diabetes and it may represent a novel therapeutic approach in endotoxemia and multiple-organ failure.

Conditions:
Dibutyl succinate is used as an insecticide, surfactant and insect attractant. Preliminary investigations have found that dibutyl succinate exhibits insulinotropic action on isolated islet cells suggesting that it may have some application for the treatment of diabetes.

Conditions:
Frovatriptan succinate (trade name Frova) is a selective 5-hydroxytryptamine1 (5-HT1B/1D) receptor subtype agonist, and is used for the treatment of migraine attacks with or without aura in adults. Frovatriptan has no significant effects on GABAA mediated channel activity and has no significant affinity for benzodiazepine binding sites. Frovatriptan is believed to act on extracerebral, intracranial arteries and to inhibit excessive dilation of these vessels in migraine. Serious but rare cardiac events have been reported in patients with risk factors predictive of coronary artery disease (CAD). These include coronary artery vasospasm, transient myocardial ischemia, myocardial infarction, ventricular tachycardia and ventricular fibrillation.
