Conditions:

Tosylchloramide or N-chloro tosylamide, sodium salt, sold as chloramine-T, is an investigational animal drug used in the aquaculture industry and also is a very effective odor control compound. It has other applications that include: algaecide, bactericide, germicide, parasite control, and for drinking water disinfection. It is also highly effective against bacteria, viruses, and spores. In the aquaculture and aquafarming industries, Chloramine -T (Tosylchloramide Sodium Salt) is used to treat external bacterial infections in salmonid fish such as koi, salmon, trout, and whitefish. In the personal care industry, it is used in hydrotherapy treatments to revitalize, maintain, and restore health. Hydrotherapeutic applications include whirlpools, saunas, steam baths, foot baths, and sitz baths. Chloramine-T is also used for disinfection in saunas, solariums, gyms, sport centres, kitchens, sanitary facilities, and air conditioning units. As an anti-microbial agent,Chloramine-T (Tosylchloramide Sodium Salt) it has had widespread use in a broad range of practices, including medical, dental, verterinary food processing and agricultural. It also has been used in direct contact with tissues because it has a low degree of cytotoxicity. Within the United States of America, the use of Chloramine-T is more restricted. Disifin (Tosylchloramide) destroys DNA and thereby prevents microbes from. DISIFIN® Tablets are effective against a whole series of microorganisms, including grampositive and gram-negative bacteria, enveloped and non-en reproducing.

Conditions:

Cinchophen, phenylcinchoninic acid, seems to have been discovered in 1887 by Doebner and Gieseke and to have been introduced into medicine under the trade name of atophan in 1908 by Nicolaier and Dohrn. Since that time it has been used extensively for gout as well as for other forms of arthritis and for the relief of pain of all types. Use of Cinchophen in humans ceased in the 1930s due to the discovery that it can cause serious liver damage.
Noscapine (also known as Narcotine, Nectodon, Nospen, Anarcotine and (archaic) Opiane) is a benzylisoquinoline alkaloid from plants of the poppy family, without painkilling properties. This agent is primarily used for its antitussive (cough-suppressing) effects. Noscapine is often used as an antitussive medication. A 2012 Dutch guideline, however, does not recommend its use for coughing. Noscapine can increase the effects of centrally sedating substances such as alcohol and hypnotics. Noscapine should not be taken in conjunction with warfarin as the anticoagulant effects of warfarin may be increased. Noscapine, and its synthetic derivatives called noscapinoids, are known to interact with microtubules and inhibit cancer cell proliferation. Mechanisms for its antitussive action are unknown, although animal studies have suggested central nervous system as a site of action. Furthermore, noscapine causes apoptosis in many cell types and has potent antitumor activity against solid murine lymphoid tumors (even when the drug was administered orally) and against human breast and bladder tumors implanted in nude mice. Because noscapine is water-soluble and absorbed after oral administration, its chemotherapeutic potential in human cancer merits thorough evaluation. Antifibrotic effect of noscapine based on novel mechanism, which it shows through EP2 prostaglandin E2 receptor-mediated activation of protein kinase A.
Guaiacol is a naturally occurring organic compound first isolated by Otto Unverdorben in 1826. Although it is biosynthesized by a variety of organisms, this yellowish aromatic oil is usually derived from guaiacum or wood creosote. Guaiacol is used as a reducing co-substrate for COX reactions. It is mainly used as expectorant, antiseptic. It is used as cough suppressant, it is an ingredient of Pulmo Bailly (UK). Pulmo Bailly Cough Expectorant is indicated for relief for cough symptoms that are associated with a flu, cold, or other infection. It contains active ingredients, Codeine and Guajacol, which reduce discomfort and the urge to cough. Each 5 ml tablespoon of Pulmo Bailly contains 75 mg guaiacol and 7 mg codeine.
Cloxyquin has being shown to be a novel activator of the two-pore domain potassium channel TRESK, which is linked to causing migraines and controls the sensitivity of pain nerves in the brain.

Class (Stereo):
CHEMICAL (ACHIRAL)

Danthron, a natural product, was originally extracted from the roots and rhizome of Polygonaceae plant. Danthron is an anthraquinone. Danthron has been widely administrated as a laxative since the 1900s. In the United States, danthron has been forbidden to continual use as laxative because it is considered to be a carcinogen. In the UK, it is not marketed alone but in combination with poloxamer 188 as co-danthramer and with docusate as co-danthrusate; in the UK, its use is strictly restricted to the elderly and to the terminally ill of all ages because of concerns about carcinogenicity and hepatotoxicity. It has only a limited role in the treatment of constipation.

21 CFR 310.545(a)(23)(i) internal analgesic calcium salicylate
Source URL:

CHEMICAL (ACHIRAL)

Calcium salicylate is the calcium salt of salicylic acid. The anti-cancer effectiveness of calcium salicylate has been investigated on human HT-1080 fibrosarcoma cell lines. Low calcium salicylate concentrations did not retard tumor growth progression significantly but its cytotoxic characteristics were proven to be prominent by various morphological and immunocytological techniques - approximately 25% apoptosis after treatment with calcium salicylate. This compound up-regulated the expression of p53, p21 and Bax, and down-regulated Bcl-2 in HT-1080 cells. In addition, calcium salicylate is used in root canal filling material development.

Phenoxyacetic acid is found in cocoa and cocoa products. Phenoxyacetic acid is a flavouring ingredient. Phenoxyacetic acid is on the FDA list of approved food additives (PART 172 - FOOD ADDITIVES PERMITTED FOR DIRECT ADDITION TO FOOD FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION; Subpart F--Flavoring Agents and Related Substances Sec. 172.515 Synthetic flavoring substances and adjuvants.). Research has shown that Phenoxyacetic acid induced hematopoietic cell proliferation, providing potential for oral therapeutics which stimulate proliferation of hematopoietic cells of multiple lineages, as well as inducing fetal globin, important for therapy of hemoglobinopathies.
