Dapagliflozin (trade name Farxiga in the U.S. and Forxiga in the EU and Russia) is a drug of the gliflozin class, developed by Bristol-Myers Squibb in partnership with AstraZeneca. Farxiga is a sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Methylnaltrexone, is a peripherally acting μ-opioid receptor antagonist that acts on the gastrointestinal tract to inhibit the opioid-induced decrease in gastric motility and transit time. It is used to treat opiate-induced constipation in adults with chronic non-cancer pain and in adults with advanced illness who are receiving palliative care.
Regadenoson (Lexiscan), a low affinity agonist of the A2A adenosine receptor, increases coronary blood flow (CBF) and mimics the increase in CBF caused by exercise. Myocardial uptake of the radiopharmaceutical is proportional to CBF creating the contrast required to identify stenotic coronary arteries. It is a pharmacologic stress agent indicated for radionuclide myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) in patients unable to undergo adequate exercise stress. The most common adverse reactions to Lexiscan are dyspnea, headache, flushing, chest discomfort, dizziness, angina pectoris, chest pain, and nausea. Methylxanthines, e.g., caffeine and theophylline, may interfere with the activity of Lexiscan. Aminophylline may be used to attenuate severe and/or persistent adverse reactions to Lexiscan.

Alvimopan (LY246736, ADL 8-2698, trade name Entereg) is a potent, peripherally selective mu-opioid receptor antagonist. Alvimopan was developed by Adolor Corporation (now Cubist Pharmaceuticals) and GlaxoSmithKline for the treatment of postoperative ileus. Postoperative ileus is the impairment of gastrointestinal motility after intra-abdominal surgery or other non-abdominal surgeries. This may potentially delay gastrointestinal recovery and hospital discharge until its resolution. Morphine and other mu-opioid receptor agonists are universally used for the treatment of acute postsurgical pain; however, they are known to have an inhibitory effect on gastrointestinal motility and may prolong the duration of postoperative ileus. Following oral administration, alvimopan antagonizes the peripheral effects of opioids on gastrointestinal motility and secretion by competitively binding to gastrointestinal tract mu-opioid receptors.
Tapentadol is the first US FDA-approved centrally acting analgesic having both μ-opioid receptor agonist and noradrenaline (norepinephrine) reuptake inhibition activity with minimal serotonin reuptake inhibition. Tapentadol is indicated for the management of pain severe enough to require daily, around-the-clock, long-term opioid treatment and for which alternative treatment options are inadequate, neuropathic pain associated with diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) severe enough to require daily, around-the-clock, long-term opioid treatment and for which alternative treatment options are inadequate.

Bendamustine, brand name Treanda, is a chemotherapeutic agent that displays a unique pattern of cytotoxicity compared with conventional alkylating agents. Treanda is indicated for the treatment of patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), in addition Trenda in phase III of clinical trial for the treatment patients with indolent B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) that has progressed during or within six months of treatment with rituximab or a rituximab-containing regimen. Bendamustine is a bifunctional mechlorethamine derivative. Mechlorethamine and its derivatives dissociate into electrophilic alkyl groups. These groups form covalent bonds with electron-rich nucleophilic moieties. The bifunctional covalent linkage can lead to cell death via several pathways. The exact mechanism of action of bendamustine remains unknown. Molecular analyses have revealed that bendamustine differs from other alkylating agents in its mechanism of action. Differences have been observed about its effects on DNA repair and cell cycle progression. Moreover, bendamustine can induce cell death through both apoptotic and nonapoptotic pathways, thereby retaining activity even in cells without a functional apoptotic pathway. Bendamustine possesses the typical adverse reactions for the nitrogen mustards, and include nausea, fatigue, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, constipation, loss of appetite, cough, headache, unintentional weight loss.
Icosapent is an important polyunsaturated fatty acid found in fish oils. It serves as the precursor for the prostaglandin-3 and thromboxane-3 families. A diet rich in eicosapentaenoic acid lowers serum lipid concentration, reduces incidence of cardiovascular disorders, prevents platelet aggregation, and inhibits arachidonic acid conversion into the thromboxane-2 and prostaglandin-2 families. EPA can be used for lowering elevated triglycerides in those who are hyperglyceridemic. In addition, EPA may play a therapeutic role in patients with cystic fibrosis by reducing disease severity and may play a similar role in type 2 diabetics in slowing the progression of diabetic nephropathy.
Fesoterodine (trade name Toviaz) is a prodrug of 5-hydroxymethyl tolterodine, which is also the active metabolite of tolterodine. Fesoterodine and its active metabolites are nonsubtype selective, competitive antagonists of human muscarinic receptors, but 5-hydroxymethyl tolterodine has greater potency than the parent compound. A prodrug approach was necessary for systemic bioavailability of 5-hydroxymethyl tolterodine after oral administration. Fesoterodine was originated by Schwarz Pharma (later a subsidiary of UCB) and is being developed by Pfizer for the treatment of overactive bladder and urinary urge incontinence. The agent is launched in several countries for the treatment of overactive bladder, including the US, Japan, Canada, Europe and Asia.

Desvenlafaxine is a dual serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor in vitro and in vivo that demonstrates good brain-to-plasma ratios. Desvenlafaxine has demonstrated antidepressant effects in preclinical studies. Pfizer is developing an oral, extended-release formulation of desvenlafaxine for the treatment of major depressive disorder. Desvenlafaxine has been registered and is available on the market for the treatment of major depressive disorder in adults.
