Perhexiline, 2-(2,2-dicyclohexylethyl)piperidine, is an anti-anginal drug. Perhexiline reduces fatty acid metabolism through the inhibition of carnitine palmitoyltransferase, the enzyme responsible for mitochondrial uptake of long-chain fatty acids. Perhexiline is used for reducing the frequency of moderate to severe attacks of angina pectoris due to coronary artery disease in patients who have not responded to other conventional therapy or in whom such therapy may be contraindicated. Betaxolol is a competitive, beta(1)-selective (cardioselective) adrenergic antagonist. Betaxolol is used to treat hypertension, arrhythmias, coronary heart disease, glaucoma, and is also used to reduce non-fatal cardiac events in patients with heart failure. (R)-Betaxolol (Dextrobetaxolol) is the R-isomer of Betaxolol (B328000), a cardioselective β1-adrenergic blocker. It is also an antihypertensive and antiglaucoma agent. Dextrobetaxolol had a much weaker affinity at both b1 and b2 receptors than levobetaxolol. Levobetaxolol (Kb=6 nM at b1 and Kb=39 nM at b2 receptors) more potently inhibited functional activities in cells expressing human recombinant b1 and b2 receptors than
dextrobetaxolol (Kb=350 and 278 nM, respectively). Likewise, levobetaxolol was a more potent antagonist in isolated tissues than dextrobetaxolol. In functional assays in cultured human NPE cells levobetaxolol (Ki =16.4 nM) was a potent antagonist of isoproterenol-induced cAMP production with dextrobetaxolol (Ki =2.9 uM) being considerably weaker than the latter antagonist. In ocular hypertensive cynomolgus monkeys, levobetaxolol was more effective at reducing IOP than dextrobetaxolol. The results of the study of the pharmacokinetic behavior of the R and S enantiomers of betaxolol following iv and oral administration of the racemate to healthy male subjects failed to reveal any important difference between the pharmacokinetics of the R and S enantiomer of betaxolol. Thus, the pharmacokinetic behavior of racemic betaxolol accurately reflects the behavior of betaxolol enantiomers in this subject group.

Dihydromorphine is a semi-synthetic opioid derived from morphine. dihydromorphine is a moderately strong analgesic and is used clinically in the treatment of pain and is also the active metabolite of dihydrocodeine. Dihydromorphine acts as an agonist at the μ-opioid (mu), δ-opioid (delta) and κ-opioid (kappa) receptors. Dihydromorphone is approved for clinical use in the United States, Europe, and Japan; and sold under the brand name Dilaudid. Similar to morphine, and other morphine derivatives, hydromorphone has a high potential for addiction and abuse and is listed as a Schedule II drug in the United States Controlled Substances Act of 1970 (and similarly regulated in other countries).

Indoprofen is one of several NSAIDs that have been withdrawn from the market due to causing severe gastrointestinal bleeding. The UK Licensing Authority suspended the product license on grounds of safety in 1983 and in 1984 the Italian manufacturers decided to withdraw it from the world market. The UK decision was taken because there was a high rate of adverse drug reactions in a voluntary postmarketing surveillance study and the spontaneous adverse reaction reporting system had noted 217 serious adverse effects, mainly gastrointestinal bleeding and perforation.

Droprenilamine hydrochloride is coronary vasodilator. It is a secondary amine structurally related to the antianginal drug prenylamine. It increases coronary flow in the isolated guinea-pig heart and partially inhibits pitressin-induced ST-segment changes in anaesthetized rats. Droprenilamine hydrochloride also elevated coronary blood flow in the anaesthetized greyhound and reduced the incidence of cardiac dysrhythmias, which result from acute ligation of the anterior descending branch of the left coronary artery. Droprenilamine hydrochloride only reduced heart rate when administered after coronary artery occlusion, a fact, which may be related to the effects of the drug on the increased sympatho-adrenal outflow produced by myocardial ischemia.

Tosufloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibacterial agent. Tosufloxacin is an inhibitor of bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV. Tosufloxacin is indicated for the treatment of various infections such as skin, respiratory, urinary, gynecologic, ophthalmologic, otolaryngologic, dental infections. Fluoroquinolones including tosufloxacin have a potential risk of inducing cartilage and joint toxicity in children. Clomocycline is the approved name of a methylol derivative of chlortetracycline. Clomocycline is a tetracycline antibiotic that is commonly prescribed by medical doctors for infections and to treat acne. It may also be used to treat urinary tract infections, gum disease, and other bacterial infections such as gonorrhea and chlamydia. Clomocycline is also used commonly as a prophylactic treatment for infection by Bacillus anthracis (anthrax). It is also effective against Yersinia pestis and malaria and is also prescribed for the treatment of Lyme disease. Clomocycline inhibits cell growth by inhibiting translation. It binds to the 30S ribosomal subunit and prevents the amino-acyl tRNA from binding to the A site of the ribosome. The binding is reversible in nature. Clomocycline is lipophilic and can easily pass through the cell membrane or passively diffuses through porin channels in the bacterial membrane. This drug has been reported to be noticeably free of side-effects such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
