Conditions:

Chloralose (alpha-Chloralose, 1,2-O-(2,2,2-Trichloroethylidene)-α-D-glucofuranose) is an avicide, and a rodenticide commonly used for the control of mice and birds. Since its initial description in 1893, alpha-chloralose has undergone extensive pharmacologic evaluation. It has been characterized as a compound possessing potent CNS activity and has been evaluated in humans and animal models for its therapeutic properties. Though the toxicity of the compound prohibits its use as a human therapeutic agent, it has been employed widely as an animal anesthetic in the laboratory setting. α-Chloralose is widely used as an anesthetic in studies of the cerebrovasculature because of its presumed minimal depression of autonomic function. α-Chloralose acts as the positive allosteric modulator of GABA-A receptor and increases the affinity for GABA 5-fold and produced a small increase in the efficacy of GABA. Studies of α-Chloralose interactions with other allosteric modulators determined that α-Chloralose binds to a site on the GABAA receptor complex distinct from the benzodiazepine, neurosteroid and barbiturate sites.

Lodoxamide ethyl, diethyl N,N'-(2-chloro-5-cyano-m-phenylene) dioxamate, is an orally active candidate for the treatment of asthma and other allergic diseases. Lodoxamide ethyl prevents mast cell mediator release during allergic reactions in rats, guinea pigs, and monkeys at doses well below toxic levels. Lodoxamide ethyl does not interfere with antigen-antibody interaction, does not antagonize the effects of histamine or slow-reacting substance of anaphylaxis, and does not have direct antiinflammatory effects. Lodoxamide ethyl has been proven capable of preventing bronchospasm in humans when the subject was given 1, 3, or 10 mg of the drug orally prior to challenge with an antigen.

CHEMICAL (ACHIRAL)

Dimetridazole is an anti-fungal and anti-protozoal drug traditionally used in veterinary for the prevention and treatment of histomoniasis in turkeys, genital trichomoniasis in cattle and hemorrhagic enteritis in pigs. Results from the in vitro and in vivo tests suggested, that dimetridazole was not genotoxic compound, but its use is legally limited, although this compound is still can be found in eggs.

Tyramine is a naturally occurring monoamine compound and trace amine derived from the amino acid tyrosine. Tyramine occurs widely in plants and animals, and is metabolized by the enzyme monoamine oxidase. Tyramine is an alpha-adrenergic agonist. Hypertension can occur, from ingestion of tyramine-rich foods in conjunction with monoamine oxidase inhibitors. The possibility that tyramine acts directly as a neurotransmitter was revealed by the discovery of a G protein-coupled receptor with high affinity for tyramine, called TAAR. It exhibits sympathomimetic effects by causing the release of endogenic norepinephrine. It has been used in mydriatic eyedrops. This has been said to reduce the intraocular pressure in rabbits and in some patients with open-angle glaucoma.

Harmine (aka telepathine) is a fluorescent harmala alkaloid belonging to the beta-carboline family of compounds. It is a naturally occurring metabolite in a number of plants, notably the Middle Eastern plant harmal or Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) and the South American vine Banisteriopsis caapi. Harmine is a reversible inhibitor of monoamine oxidase A (MAO-A), but not MAO-B. Harmine has been found to have potential anti-cancer and neuroprotective properties, and also promotes differentiation of osteoblasts and chondrocytes while inhibiting osteoclastogenesis. Harmine has also been used as a C-11 labeled probe in positron emission tomography.

Class (Stereo):
CHEMICAL (ACHIRAL)

Targets:

Fenamole is a muscle relaxant. It is effectively inhibits muscle spasms at good levels for a four hours and at significant levels for six hours. Clinical benefits were derived in patients with spasticity-spasm for periods up to 24 hours after a single oral dose. Fenamole is relatively free of adverse side effects particularly in the central nervous system. It is a potent copper chelator. It was once investigated as a potential antirheumatic agent in man.

Nihydrazone, a feed additive for chickens, has both antibacterial and antiprotozoal activity. It was found to be effective against coccidiosis due to Eimeria tenella and E. necatrix and it prevented an outbreak of cecal coccidiosis, reduced the incidence of "air sac infection," improved weight gains, feed conversions and livability and, in addition, it was active against fowl typhoid.

Cytidine is a substrate of the uridine-cytidine kinase and is a part nucleic acids. It can serve as a substrate for the salvage pathway of pyrimidine nucleotide synthesis, as a precursor of the cytidine triphosphate (CTP) needed in the phosphatidylcholine (PC) and phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) biosynthetic pathway. Cytidine was also used under the brand name posilent in Germany for the treatment of muscular, accommodative, and nervous eye disorders.
