Cafedrine, also known as norephedrinoethyltheophylline, is a chemical linkage of norephedrine and theophylline and is a cardiac stimulant used to increase blood pressure in people with hypotension. There are few data available for cafedrine. Cafedrine has a half-life of 60 min following both oral and intravenous administration Cafedrine is metabolized to norephedrine and several minor metabolites, but nearly 90% of the administered norephedrine is excreted via the kidneys, mostly unchanged, within 24 h. The effects of cafedrine on cardiac output are believed to be mediated via β- adrenoceptors. Cafedrine has a positive inotropic effect in humans, and this can be abolished by administration of the non-selective β-adrenoceptor antagonist propranolol. A combination of cafedrine and theodrenaline called Akrinor® is used for the treatment of hypotension in adults that occurs during emergency situations, general anesthesia, and regional anesthesia, especially during cesarean sections. Cafedrine/theodrenaline may have advantages over other vasopressor drugs. For example, it can be administered via bolus while catecholamines normally need to be diluted and administered via syringe pumps. Bolus injection is faster, which may be beneficial in emergency situations, plus it is more cost efficient with respect to the disposables. Cafedrine/theodrenaline has been widely used in Germany since 1963

Imidapril (Tanatril), through its active metabolite imidaprilat, acts as an ACE inhibitor to suppress the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II and thereby reduce total peripheral resistance and systemic blood pressure (BP). In clinical trials, oral imidapril was an effective antihypertensive agent in the treatment of mild to moderate essential hypertension. Some evidence suggests that imidapril also improves exercise capacity in patients with chronic heart failure (CHF) and reduces urinary albumin excretion rate in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus. Imidapril was well tolerated, with a lower incidence of dry cough than enalapril or benazepril, and is a first choice ACE inhibitor for the treatment of mild to moderate essential hypertension.

Romurtide (Muroctasin) is a non-specific immune stimulant derived from muramyl dipeptide, which is obtained from gram-positive bacterial cell walls. Muroctasin stimulates macrophages, which release interleukin-l, which in turn increases production of colony-stimulating factors; muroctasin also evokes an increased production of neutrophils. It is used in Japan for chemotherapy-induced leukopenia.

Epicatechin gallate is one of the flavonoids, found in green tea and it acts as an antagonist of the mu/kappa/delta opioid receptors. Recently was studied the effect of epicatechin gallate on fructose uptake in human intestinal epithelia. Based on the result was made a conclusion, that epicatechin gallate could be a good candidate for preventing diseases caused by excessive fructose intake.

Sarpogrelate (brand name Anplag; former developmental code names MCI-9042, LS-187,118) is a drug which acts as an antagonist at the 5HT2A and 5-HT2B receptors. It blocks serotonin-induced platelet aggregation and has applications in the treatment of many diseases including diabetes mellitus, Buerger's disease, Raynaud's disease, coronary artery disease, angina pectoris, and atherosclerosis.

Spiperone (Spiroperidol; brand name: Spiropitan (JP)) is a typical antipsychotic and research chemical belonging to the butyrophenone chemical class. Spiperone is selective D2 dopamine receptor antagonist; α1B-adrenoceptor antagonist; mixed 5-HT2A/5-HT1 serotonin receptor antagonist. Additionally, spiperone was identified by compound screening to be an activator of Ca2+ activated Cl− channels (CaCCs), thus a potential target for therapy of cystic fibrosis. Spiperone is widely used as a pharmacological tool for studying neurotransmitter receptors.

Moxonidine is a second-generation, centrally acting antihypertensive drug with a distinctive mode of action. Moxonidine activates I1-imidazoline receptors (I1-receptors). Imidazoline I1-receptor agonism represents a new mode of antihypertensive action to inhibit peripheral alpha-adrenergic tone by a central mechanism. Adrenaline, noradrenaline and renin levels are reduced, a finding consistent with central inhibition of sympathetic tone. Moxonidine acts centrally to reduce peripheral sympathetic activity, thus decreasing peripheral vascular resistance. In patients with mild to moderate hypertension, moxonidine reduces blood pressure (BP) as effectively as most first-line antihypertensives when used as monotherapy and is also an effective adjunctive therapy in combination with other antihypertensive agents. It improves the metabolic profile in patients with hypertension and diabetes mellitus or impaired glucose tolerance, is well tolerated, has a low potential for drug interactions and may be administered once daily in most patients. Moxonidine is a good option in the treatment of patients with mild to moderate hypertension, particularly as adjunctive therapy in patients with the metabolic syndrome.

Lymecycline is a tetracycline broad-spectrum antibiotic marketed by the pharmaceutical company Galderma. It is approximately 5,000 times more soluble than tetracycline base and is unique amongst tetracyclines in that it is absorbed by an active transport process across the intestinal wall, making use of the same fast and efficient mechanism by which carbohydrates are absorbed. Lymecycline's side effects can include rash, headache, diarrhoea, ulcerative colitis, nausea, vomiting, dermatitis, dysphasia, inflammation of the liver, hypersensitive reactions, and visual disturbances. When taken for a long period of time, it can cause reflux oesophagitis.

Nomegestrol acetate (NOMAC) is a 19-norprogesterone derivative with high biological activity at the progesterone receptor, a weak anti-androgenic effect, but with no binding to estrogen, glucocorticoid or mineralocorticoid receptors. Nomegestrol has been developed by the Monaco-based company Théramex SAM (a Teva subsidiary). Nomegestrol acetate has been used successfully for the treatment of some gynaecological disorders (menstrual disturbances, dysmenorrhoea, premenstrual syndrome) and as a component of hormone replacement therapy in combination with estradiol for the relief of menopausal symptoms; it has been approved in Europe as monotherapy for the treatment of the menopausal syndrome, uterine diseases and menorrhagia, and in combination with an estrogen for the treatment of menopausal symptoms. Nomegestrol acetate in combination with estradiol is used as an oral contraceptive.
