Thiofuradene (also known as Furidin) is a imidazolidinethione derivative patented by Norwich Pharmacal Co. as an anthelmintic and growth stimulant. Thiofuradene exerts favor influences on combating Pasteurella multocida, Eimeria tenella, and other infections. Thiofuradene added in a dose of 30 mg/day to the ration for 5 to 30 days increased the egg production of chickens several days after the beginning of its administration.

Uredofos is a broad-spectrum anthelmintic. Uredofos is highly effective against canine tapeworms, ascarids, and hookworms when given as a single dose of 50 mg/kg and against whipworm when given at dose level of 50 mg/kg/day for 2 days. In mice complete removal of Hymenolepis nana occurred at 25 mg/kg and Syphacia obvelata was completely eliminated at all levels.

Clociguanil (BRL 50216, WR 38839) is an antimalarial compound, a derivative of N-benzyloxydihydrotriazine, developed by Beecham Pharmaceuticals. Mode of action studies indicated that clociguanil is a dihydrofolate reductase inhibitor of Plasmodium and is capable of marked potentiation with a selected sulphonamide against both the sensitive N strain and the cycloguanil-resistant B line of P. berghei. A combination of clociguanil and sulphadiazine prevented the development of parasitemia caused by P. falciparum in humans. The subsequent development of clociguanil was discontinued because of a relatively short half-life in man and lack of suppression of pre-erythrocytic schizogony of a strain of P. falciparum resistant to chloroquine, pyrimethamine, and proguanil.

Niclofolan (bayer 9015, Bilevon) is a biphenyl anthelmintic compound. Niclofolan is used orally towards the treatment of Fasciola hepatica infection. Niclofolan therapy achieved elimination of eggs from the feces and normalization of eosinophil counts, liver enzymes and Fasciola titers, suggesting eradication of biliary flukes. Niclofolan has also been used in the treatment of Paragonimus westermani in dogs and cats and P. iloktsuenensis in rats. It was proved that administration of daily dose of 1.0 mg/kg body weight for 3 days or in 2 doses of 2.0 mg/kg body weight by alternate days were evidently effective for the infected dogs, cats and rats with the lung flukes, and toxic manifestations were not found.

Pirinidazole was found to be the compound from a series of 5-nitroimidazoles with the broadest action against protozoans. Its effect against trichomonads is the most pronounced. The comparison of the effective doses of different 5-nitroimidazoles against Trichomonas fetus demonstrates that the compound Pirinidazole is slightly superior to Tinidazole, distinctly superior to Metronidazole, and very much superior to Nitrimidazine. Some toxicological data of Pirinidazole show that the compound is well tolerated.
