Diethylene glycol monomethyl ether is a ether-alcohol derivative. The ether being relatively unreactive. Flammable and/or toxic gases are generated by the combination of alcohols with alkali metals, nitrides, and strong reducing agents. They react with oxoacids and carboxylic acids to form esters plus water. Oxidizing agents convert alcohols to aldehydes or ketones. Alcohols exhibit both weak acid and weak base behavior. They may initiate the polymerization of isocyanates and epoxides. Diethylene glycol monomethyl ether (DEGME) is sold by Dow
under the tradename Methyl CARBITOL™ solvent. DEGME is an ethylene-series or E-series
glycol ether. It is primarily used as a de-icing additive for aviation fuel.

Hesperetin is a cholesterol-lowering flavanoid found in a number of citrus juices. It appears to reduce cholesteryl ester mass and inhibit apoB secretion by up to 80%. Hesperetin may have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, hypolipidemic, vasoprotective and anticarcinogenic actions. In vitro research also suggests the possibility that hesperetin might have some anticancer effects and that it might have some anti-aromatase activity, as well as activity again. Hesperetin reduces or inhibits the activity of acyl-coenzyme A: cholesterol acyltransferase genes (ACAT1 and ACAT2) and it reduces microsomal triglyceride transfer protein (MTP) activity. Hesperetin also seems to upregulate the LDL receptor. This leads to the reduced assembly and secretion of apoB-containing lipoproteins and enhanced reuptake of those lipoproteins, thereby lowering cholesterol levels. Hesperetin's 7-O-glycoside, hesperidin, is a naturally occurring flavanon-glycoside, the main flavonoid in lemons and sweet oranges.

Tiamulin is a diterpene antimicrobial with a pleuromutilin chemical structure similar to that of
valnemulin. The activity of tiamulin is largely confined to gram-positive micro-organisms and
mycoplasma. Tiamulin acts by inhibiting protein synthesis at the ribosomal level. In veterinary
medicine, tiamulin is used for treatment and prophylaxis of dysentery, pneumonia and
mycoplasmal infections in pigs and poultry. Tiamulin is available as a 2, 10 or 20% premix for
pigs and poultry, a 12.5% solution or 45% water soluble powder for addition to drinking water
for pigs and poultry, or a 10% injectable formulation for pigs. Tiamulin inhibits protein synthesis by targeting the 50S bacterial ribosomal subunit and binding to peptidyl transferase, the enzyme responsible for forming peptide bonds between amino acids.
