Phenylpropanol is used as a heat transfer medium, in perfumery, and as a choleretic; used as a flavoring agent. It is used clinically as choleretic drug.
L-acetylcarnitine or acet-L-carnitine, a compound, naturally produced by the body, is necessary for fatty-acid metabolism and energy production. It is often taken as a dietary supplement. The mechanisms of action of acetylcarnitine have not been fully elucidated, but it seems that the main role of acetylcarnitine is to donate an acetyl group during fatty acid metabolism to help transport fatty acids, such as acetyl CoA, into the mitochondrial matrix where fatty acid metabolism occurs. L-acetylcarnitine is an investigational drug, which is approved in some countries, for example in Italy for diabetic neuropathy. Phase IV of clinical trials have revealed, that it also effective agent to treat the Alzheimer's disease. In contrary, the efficacy of L-acetylcarnitine as a prophylaxis in migraine patients did not provide evidence of benefit for efficacy. Besides, Acetyl-L-carnitine was in clinical trial Phase III to investigate its efficacy in the treatment of peripheral sensory neuropathy that anti-cancer chemotherapeutics induce. Recently published article unexpectedly discovered that this drug increased chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy in a randomized trial.

Clodronate (also known as clodronic acid) is a drug used to treat a high level of calcium in the blood caused by changes in the body that happen with cancer. Clodronate is approved in some countries and is sold under trade trade name bonefos for oral use. Bonefos is indicated in the management of osteolytic lesions, hypercalcemia and bone pain associated with skeletal metastases in patients with carcinoma of the breast or multiple myeloma. Bonefos is also indicated for the maintenance of clinically acceptable serum calcium levels in patients with hypercalcemia of malignancy initially treated with an intravenous bisphosphonate. Bonefos forms complexes with divalent metal ions, and therefore simultaneous administration with food, antacids and mineral supplements may impair absorption. It was suggested, that the mechanism of action of clodronate was involved osteoclast apoptosis.
Ethyl Ferulate is an ester type of Ferulic Acid and has powerful antioxidant, free radical scavenging and UV adsorption properties. Ethyl Ferulate can be incorporated into various cosmetic formulations including aqueous, ethanolic and emulsion-based creams, sun creams or moisturizers. Ethyl ferulate demonstrated the cytoprotective effects against oxidative damage in neuronal cells. Ethyl ferulate has also been widely studied and some recent findings include its anticholinesterase activity; inhibition of nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB) activity in LPS-stimulated RAW 264.7 macrophages; inhibition of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) induction in UV-induced oxidative stress in melanocytes; induction of heme oxygenase (HO-1) activity in rat astrocytes and neurons, which is a putative pathway against oxidative stress that underline neurodegenerative diseases; and cytoprotective effect against reactive oxygen species (ROS)-induced damage through the stimulation of dermal fibroblasts stress response.
DISTEAROYLPHOSPHATIDYLCHOLINE, DL- (DSPC) is a component of LUMASON® (sulfur hexafluoride lipid-type A microspheres). It is an ultrasound contrast agent indicated for use in the heart echocardiography and in ultrasonography of the liver and the urinary tract. The sulfur hexafluoride lipid microspheres are composed of SF6 gas in the core surrounded by an outer shell monolayer of phospholipids such as DSPC.

Zeranol is a non-steroidal anabolic growth promoter with potent estrogenic activity that is widely used as a growth promoter in the US beef industry. It is a mycotoxin, derived from fungi in the Fusarium family, it is an estrogen agonist. Zeranol is approved for use as a growth promoter in livestock, including beef cattle, in the United States. In Canada, it is approved for use in beef cattle only. Zeranol was officially banned in Europe due to safety concerns because of its potential carcinogenic and endocrine-disrupting biological activity. Merck Animal Health markets zeranol under the brand name Ralgro. It has being shown, that zeranol may increase cancer cell proliferation in already existing breast cancer.

Pradofloxacin (trade name Veraflox) is a 3rd generation enhanced spectrum veterinary antibiotic of the fluoroquinolone class. It was developed by Bayer HealthCare AG, Animal Health GmbH, and received approval from the European Commission in April 2011 for prescription-only use in veterinary medicine for the treatment of bacterial infections in dogs and cats. The primary mode of action of fluoroquinolones involves interaction with enzymes essential for major DNA functions such as replication, transcription, and recombination. The primary targets for Pradofloxacin are the bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV enzymes. Reversible association between Pradofloxacin and DNA gyrase or DNA topoisomerase IV in the target bacteria results in inhibition of these enzymes and rapid death of the bacterial cell. The rapidity and extent of bacterial killing are directly proportional to the drug concentration.

Brilliant Blue is an organic compound classified as a blue triarylmethane dye. It is coal tar derivative food dye; used as the di-NH4 or di-Na salts. Coloring agent. Brilliant Blue FCF, has been used in foods in the US since 1929. This color adds a distinctive, bright blue hue to beverages, beverage powders, dairy products, baked goods, dessert powders, confections, condiments, icings, syrups, jams, jellies, marmalades, liqueurs, extracts, dairy fats and oil, meat, seafood, snacks, dry mixes and seasonings, fruit preparations, convenient food, and flavors. Both the diammonium and disodium salts of FD&C Blue No. 1 are used. The disodium salt is used in foods, while the diammonium salt has limited usage in drugs and cosmetics.
