Class (Stereo):
CHEMICAL (ACHIRAL)

Emilium is an antiarrhythmic agent and cardiac depressant.

INN:diclofensine [INN]

Class (Stereo):
CHEMICAL (RACEMIC)

Conditions:

Diclofensine is an antidepressant with equipotent inhibitive effects on the neuronal uptake of norepinephrine (NE), serotonin, and dopamine. It is devoid of monoamine-releasing or monoaminoxidase-inhibiting properties. Diclofensine was found to be an effective antidepressant in human trials, with relatively few side effects, but was ultimately dropped from clinical development.

Neflumozide is an antipsychotic.

INN:pinoxepin [INN]

Class (Stereo):
CHEMICAL (ACHIRAL)

Pinoxepin belongs to the dibenzoxepine series of drugs which are characterized by a 6-7-6 tricyclic nuclear structure. Clinical studies indicated that pinoxepin was a potent antipsychotic-sedative equally effective to chlorpromazine and thioridazine. Pinoxepin in studies with chronic schizophrenic patients displayed useful effects on behavior without unduly prominent side effects. In doses above 300 mg seizures are reported and more frequent changes in liver-function tests were noted than with standard drug, but below 300 mg pinoxepin was found to have side effects similar to chlorpromazine and marked sedative effects.

INN:levofacetoperane [INN]

Class (Stereo):
CHEMICAL (ABSOLUTE)

Levophacetoperane is a piperidine derivative. Levofacetoperane is a sympathomimetic central nervous system stimulant and is commonly used to treat depression. Levophacetoperane is also a known analeptic and is strongly linked to apnea reversal in dogs after a single intravenous injection.

INN:delmadinone
Source URL:

Class (Stereo):
CHEMICAL (ABSOLUTE)

Delmadinone is a steroid with progestogenic, anti-androgenic and weak glucocorticoid action, synthesized in Syntex S.A. Acetate ester of delmadinone is used in veterinary under tradenames Tardak for cats and dogs for the treatment of excessive or aberrant sexual behaviour, including vagrancy, for the relief of prostatic hypertrophy, circum-anal tumors and for the treatment of certain forms of aggressiveness, nervousness, epileptiform seizures and corticosteroid-resistant pruritus. Delmadinone acetate blocks androgen receptors inhibit 5-reductase, which catalyzes the transformation of testosterone to the more potent androgen 5-dihydrotestosterone and decreases the production of testosterone by inhibiting gonadotropin release.

INN:piroximone [INN]

Class (Stereo):
CHEMICAL (ACHIRAL)

Piroximone is a nonglycoside, noncatecholamine inotropic agent. In animal experiments, it has been shown to increase cardiac contractility by mechanisms unrelated to any known receptor, acting mainly by inhibition of type III phosphodiesterase. Piroximone also possesses direct vasodilatory properties in the arterial and venous vascular bed. Piroximone combines well-balanced vasodilator and inotropic properties which make it very useful for the management of congestive heart failure. Piroximone had been in phase II clinical trial for the treatment of heart failure. However, this research has been discontinued.

INN:cicloxolone

Class (Stereo):
CHEMICAL (MIXED)

Cicloxolone is a broad spectrum antiviral agent with a largely non-specific and complex mode of antiviral action. The drug was active during all stages of the virus replication cycle, indicating that it does not operate by the specific inhibition of any single essential virus gene product. The drug reduced the number of vesicular stomatitis virusparticles assembled and released by 100- to 1000-fold. Infectious virus yield was reduced 1000- to 10000-fold, giving a 10-fold or greater increase in the particle/p.f.u. ratio. The reduced number of virus particles produced in the presence of Cicloxolone results from two superimposed effects: suppression of vesicular stomatitis virussecondary transcription and viral protein synthesis, and perturbation of virion assembly.

Class (Stereo):
CHEMICAL (ACHIRAL)

ISOMETAMIDIUM (as a chloride salt) is widely used in tropical countries as an antiprotozoal agent to control animal trypanosomiasis. It is used principally in cattle but also in sheep, goats, buffalos, donkeys, horses, camels and dogs.
