4-Chloroaniline (4-ClA) is a chlorinated aromatic amine that is formed as an intermediate during the microbial decomposition of phenylurea and phenylcarbamate. The formation of various oligomers by polymerization of 4-ClA with guaiacol in an aqueous solution containing oxidoreductases has been reported. 4-Chloroaniline is used as an intermediate in the production of a number of products, including agricultural chemicals, azo dyes and pigments, cosmetics, and pharmaceutical products. Reactive metabolites of 4-Chloroaniline bind covalently to haemoglobin and to proteins of liver and kidney. In humans, haemoglobin adducts are detectable as early as 30 min after accidental exposure, with a maximum level at 3 h. Repeated exposure to 4-Chloroaniline leads to cyanosis and methaemoglobinaemia, followed by effects in blood, liver, spleen, and kidneys, manifested as changes in haematological parameters, splenomegaly, and moderate to heavy haemosiderosis in spleen, liver, and kidney, partially accompanied by extramedullary haematopoiesis. The marketing and use of products containing 4-Chloroaniline based azo dyes were banned by the European Union (EU) (EC, 2000).

α-Solamarine is an alkaloid from Solanum juzepczukii (bitter potato). It is derived from tomatidenol found in potatoes. A-solamarine has been reported as a constituent of S. curtilobum, S. phureja juzepczukii, S. candolleanum, S. medians, and S. multiinterruptum.
Biotin methyl ester is an intermediate in the synthesis of Biotin. It is used as an inhibitor of biotin transport and uptake in “in vitro” researches. Biotin and its methyl ester are equally active for the growth of yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae, strain M). Lactobacillus casei can utilize the methyl ester of biotin. However growth and fermentation are slower than with free biotin.
Daphnetin (DAP), a natural coumarin derivative isolated from Chinese medicinal herbs, possesses abundant biological activities, such as anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antimalarial and anti-arthritic. Experiments on mice have shown, that DAP exerts neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory effects, and the potential mechanism is involved the inhibition of TLR4/NF-κB mediated inflammatory signaling pathway. Besides, DAP, a multi-targeted medication, can have the application for the anti-angiogenesis and cancer therapy, through the inhibition of the IKKs/IκBα/NF-κB, Src/FAK/ERK1/2 and Akt signaling pathways. It is known, that protein kinases play key roles in the control of cell proliferation, differentiation, and metabolism. Daphnetin inhibits tyrosine-specific protein kinase, EGF receptor, serine/threonine-specific protein kinases, including cAMP-dependent protein kinase (PKA) and protein kinase C (PKC).

It was first isolated in 1948 by Umezawa and co-workers as a yellow crystalline solid from Streptomyces strain no. 26A related to Nocardia farcinica (referred to as A. farcinicus in the original manuscript). Notably, the compound was characterized by potent antibiotic activity against E. coli and a strong UV absorption maximum at 388 nm, distinctive of the pyrrothine core. Aureothricin is a known inhibitor of RNA Polymerase.
