The mitomycins are a family of aziridine-containing natural products isolated from Streptomyces caespitosus or Streptomyces lavendulae. One of these compounds, mitomycin C, finds use as a chemotherapeutic agent by virtue of its antitumour activity. Mitomycin C has also been used topically rather than intravenously in several areas. The first is cancers, particularly bladder cancers and intraperitoneal tumours. It is now well known that a single instillation of this agent within 6 hours of bladder tumor resection can prevent recurrence. The second is in eye surgery where mitomycin C 0.02% is applied topically to prevent scarring during glaucoma filtering surgery and to prevent haze after PRK or LASIK; mitomycin C has also been shown to reduce fibrosis in strabismus surgery. The third is in esophageal and tracheal stenosis where application of mitomycin C onto the mucosa immediately following dilatation will decrease re-stenosis by decreasing the production of fibroblasts and scar tissue. Mitomycin C is a potent DNA crosslinker. A single crosslink per genome has shown to be effective in killing bacteria. This is accomplished by reductive activation of mitomycin to form a mitosene, which reacts successively via N-alkylation of two DNA bases. Both alkylations are sequence specific for a guanine nucleoside in the sequence 5'-CpG-3'. Potential bis-alkylating heterocylic quinones were synthetised in order to explore their antitumoral activities by bioreductive alkylation. Mitomycin is also used as a chemotherapeutic agent in glaucoma surgery.

Dopamine, a sympathomimetic amine vasopressor, is the naturally occurring immediate precursor of norepinephrine. G protein-coupled dopamine receptors (D1, D2, D3, D4, and D5) mediate all of the physiological functions of the catecholaminergic neurotransmitter dopamine, ranging from voluntary movement and reward to hormonal regulation and hypertension. Dopamine HCl is indicated for the correction of hemodynamic imbalances present in the shock syndrome due to myocardial infarction, trauma, endotoxic septicemia, open-heart surgery, renal failure, and chronic cardiac decompensation as in congestive failure.
Dantrolene is a drug which was approved by FDA for the treatment of chronic spasticity and malignant hyperthermia (a rare life-threatening clinical syndrome). Dantrolene effect was shown both in vivo and in vitro and proved to be mediated by interaction with Ryanodine receptor 1. The drug has a potential for hepatotoxicity and should be used as indicated in the label.

Miconazole is a synthetic imidazole derivative, a topical antifungal agent for use in the local treatment of vaginal, and skin and nail infections due to yeasts and dermatophytes. It is particularly active against Candida spp., Trichophyton spp., Epidermophyton spp., Microsporum spp. and Pityrosporon orbiculare (Malassezia furfur), but also possesses some activity against Gram-positive bacteria. It binds to the heme moiety of the fungal cytochrome P-450 dependent enzyme lanosterol 14-alpha-demethlyase. Inhibits 14-alpha-demethlyase, blocks formation of ergosterol and leads to the buildup of toxic methylated 14-a-sterols. Miconazole also affects the synthesis of triglycerides and fatty acids and inhibits oxidative and peroxidative enzymes, increasing the amount of active oxygen species within the cell.

Cephapirin is a first-generation cephalosporin. Cephapirin has been indicated for the treatment of infections when caused by susceptible strains in respiratory, genitourinary, gastrointestinal, skin and soft tissue, bone and joint infections, septicemia; treatment of susceptible gram-positive bacilli and cocci (never enterococcus); some gram-negative bacilli including E. coli, Proteus, and Klebsiella may be susceptible. Cephapirin is used in veterinary as an intra-uterine antibiotic infusion for the treatment of subacute and chronic endometritis in cows and repeat breeders.
Cephradine is a semisynthetic cephalosporin antibiotic. Cephradine is active against the following organisms in vitro: Group A beta-hemolytic streptococci; Staphylococci, including coagulase-positive, coagulase-negative, and penicillinase-producing strains; Streptococcus pneumoniae (formerly Diplococcus pneumoniae); Escherichia coli; Proteus mirabilis; Klebsiella species; Hemophilus influenza. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria. It is used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections (e.g., skin, ear, respiratory and urinary tract infections). Pseudomembranous colitis has been reported in patients receiving cephradine both orally and intravenously. Diarrhea generally starts 1 to 16 days after starting cephradine therapy. Gastrointestinal side effects have included nausea, vomiting. Hypersensitivity reactions have included rash, urticaria, pruritus, and joint pain. Bacteriostats may interfere with the bactericidal action of cephalosporins in acute infection; other agents, e.g., aminoglycosides, colistin, polymyxins, vancomycin, may increase the possibility of nephrotoxicity.

Benzquinamide also known as BZQ; Emete-con, Emetico, is an antiemetic drug, which was discontinued. That drug was used to prevent and treat nausea and vomiting associated with anesthesia and surgery, administered intramuscularly or intravenously. The mechanism of action is not known, but was made predictions which shown, that in spite of benzquinamide did bind to the α2A, α2B, and α2C adrenergic receptors (α2-AR). It was known, that this activity may partially explain the anxiolytic activity effect of the drug. But the dopamine D2 receptor, which by ligand-set similarity resembles α2-AR is an accepted target for emesis. Then benzquinamide was tested towards to the D2, D3, and D4 receptors. Notwithstanding the fact that the α2-AR values are lower than the D2 values, it was predicted, that D2 activity may be the most relevant for emesis.

Cyanocobalamin Co-58 is radiopharmaceutical derivative of an essential vitamin B12. Radioactive isotope Co-58 has a half-life of 72 days and produces hard gamma radiation when it decays to Fe-58. In the 1960s, cyanocobalamin Co-58 was used in western European countries for the diagnosis of liver diseases: hepatitis, parenchymal liver disease, lead poisoning, and other condition. Its use was superseded by cyanocobalamin Co-57, which is marketed used for the diagnosis of pernicious anemia and as a diagnostic adjunct in other defects of intestinal vitamin B12 absorption.
