2-Chloro-5-methylphenol is organic compound used in the synthesis of troarylpyrazoles as anti-cancer agents. 2-Chloro-5-Methylphenol is extensively used in the manufacture of resins, herbicides, pharmaceuticals, tricresylic acid surfactants. Wastewater from these industries together with coal-conversion unit and petrochemicals contain high concentration of cresol. Discharge of cresols into the environment poses significant health threat due to carcinogenic and refractory nature.
Alpha-Sophorose is a disaccharide component of the microbial glycolipids produced by yeast termed sophorolipids. Due to their hydrophobic nature, sophorolipids are often employed as biosurfactants.

Salidroside (Rhodioloside) is a glucoside which was isolated in 1926 from Salix triandra L. (Salicaceae). It is thought to be one of the compounds responsible for the antidepressant and anxiolytic actions of this plant, along with rosavin. Also was investigated that salidroside may be a promising candidate for the treatment of inflammatory liver injury and promotes skeletal regeneration in cell-autonomous and cell-non-autonomous ways and might be a potential therapy for accelerating fracture healing.
