Lactic acid, D- is a natural optical isomer of lactic acid. It is a poorly utilized isomer – 30 to 40% of the dose ingested is excreted in the urine. Lactic acid, D- is known to be harmful to human metabolism and it can result in acidosis and decalcification. D-lactic acidosis, also referred as D-lactate encephalopathy, has been reported in patients with short bowl syndrome. Lactic acid, D- is an interesting precursor for manufacturing heat-resistant polylactic acid (PLA) bioplastics which can be widely used, for example as packaging material, coatings, for textiles or in the automotive industry.

Skeletal imaging, radionuclide—Technetium Tc 99m oxidronate is indicated as a skeletal imaging agent in adults and children to delineate areas of abnormal osteogenesis, such as those that occur with metastatic bone disease, Paget's disease, arthritic disease, osteomyelitis, and fractures. Technetium Tc 99m oxidronate injection is a radiopharmaceutical. Exact mechanism is not known. It is generally accepted that technetium Tc 99m oxidronate localizes on the surface of hydroxyapatite crystals by a process termed chemisorption, with blood flow and/or blood concentration being most important in the delivery of the agent to sites of uptake. Visualization of osseous lesions is possible since skeletal uptake of technetium Tc 99m oxidronate is altered in areas of abnormal osteogenesis. Rapidly distributed in and cleared from blood after intravenous administration, with about half the dose normally accumulating in the skeleton within 3 to 4 hours after injection. May also locate within infarcted myocardial cells or other regions of soft tissue necrosis or calcification. Minimal uptake by soft-tissue organs, except calcified cartilage, blood vessels, and kidneys. TechneScan HDP exhibits its greatest affinity for areas of altered osteogenesis and actively metabolizing bone. Some hypersensitivity reactions, as well as nausea and vomiting, have been infrequently associated with Technetium Tc 99m Oxidronate.

Palmitoleic acid, commonly known as omega-7, is a rare monounsatured fatty acid, which was generally reported to benefit the skin in promoting epithelialisation, and certain gynaecological problems (vaginal mycoses). Until now, sea buckthorn (Hippophae rhamnoides), a shrub widely found in Europe and Asia, and macadamia nuts have been the principal sources. Palmitoleic acid (PMA) has anti-inflammatory and antidiabetic activities. Palmitoleic acid is a gap junction uncoupler.

11(E)-Eicosenoic acid is a very long-chain ω-9 fatty acid that is a trans monounsaturated isomer of arachidic acid. 11(E)-Eicosenoic acid is one of several monounsaturated 20-carbon fatty acids, and is used to study phospholipid membranes. The combined C20:1 isomers constitute 70% of the total fatty acid pool in jojoba seed oil isolated from plants in the Arizona desert. 11(E)-Eicosenoic acid has been shown to inhibit glycerophosphate acyltransferase, cholinephosphotransferase and ethanolaminephosphotransferase in V79-R cells.
11(E)-Eicosenoic acid lacks the cis-double bond and has virtually no effect on telomerase activity (unlike cis-Unsaturated C20 fatty acids, which demonstrate strong telomerase inhibition and have been studied as a promising cancer therapeutic target).

Fusidic acid is a anti-bacterial agent, initially isolated from Fusidium coccineum by Godtfredsen et al (Leo Pharma) in 1960. It is discussed that fusidic acid exerts its anti-microbial effect by inhibiting bacterial elongation factor G, thus suppressing the protein synthesis. Fusidic acid is widely used in Europe under the names Fucidin H(fusidic acid / hydrocortisone acetate), Fucidin (fusidic acid / sodium fusidate) and Fucicort (fusidic acid / betamethasone valerate) for the treatment of primary/secondary skin infections and inflammatory dermatoses.
