Gingerol (6-Gingerol) is bioactive compound found in ginger (Zingiber officinale) with antioxidant activity, which functions as an anti-inflammatory and antitumor agent. 6-Gingerol has been found to possess anticancer activities via its effect on a variety of biological pathways involved in apoptosis, cell cycle regulation, cytotoxic activity, and inhibition of angiogenesis. Gingerol has been investigated for its effect on cancerous tumors in the bowel, breast tissue, ovaries, the pancreas, among other tissues, with positive results. In phase II clinical trials Gingerol was successfully studied for preventing chemotherapy- induced nausea and vomiting in patients receiving highly emetogenic chemotherapy.

Ginkgolide C (GC, BN52022), is a terpene lactone constituent of Ginkgo biloba, the ginkgo tree, is the oldest living tree, with a long history of use in traditional Chinese medicine. Ginkgolide C is 25-fold less potent than ginkgolide B as a platelet activating factor receptor antagonist, due to the presence of the 7beta-OH. Ginkgolide C may not be bioavailable at clinically relevant concentrations due to rapid metabolism.

RU 28318 also known as OXPRENOATE is a mineralocorticoid receptor (MR) antagonist, inhibiting aldosterone production and secretion. RU 28318 has been studied in normal and diabetic rats. It was revealed, that in combination with angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors, RU 28318 was the most effective at improving -dP/dt (a measure of diastolic function) and attenuated cardiac dysfunction in diabetes.

Selective, potent, orally bioavailable full 5-HT1A antagonist. S-(+)-enantiomer of (±)-LY426965 is more active in comparison with its opposite enantiomer (R)-(-)-LY 426965. LY426965 completely reversed the effects of nicotine withdrawal on the auditory startle reflex in rats. In microdialysis experiments, LY426965, when administered with fluoxetine, significantly increased extracellular levels of serotonin above those achievable with fluoxetine alone. In electrophysiological studies, the administration of LY426965 both blocked and reversed the effects of fluoxetine on 5-HT neuronal activity. Preclinical results indicate that LY426965 may have clinical use as a pharmacotherapy for smoking cessation and depression and related disorders.

PK-11195 is a selective antagonist of the Translocator Protein (TSPO). The C11 radiolabeled isotope of PK-11195 ([11C]-(R)-PK-11195) has been used effectively for diagnostic PET imaging in a number of CNS conditions where imaging of TSPO is informative (the S- enantiomer is not used). Applicable conditions including Schizophrenia, Multiple Sclerosis, and Traumatic Brain Injuries where it has been particularly useful for detection of increased microglial activation. It has also been investigated as means to monitor the role of Toll-Like Receptor-4 (TLR-4) after cerebral ischemia in mice. It should be noted that the unlabeled PK-11195 had been investigated for a number of potential therapeutic uses but did not progress beyond animal and cell models.

17β-Carboxyandrost-4-en-3-one is an intermediate in the synthesis of the drugs Dutasteride (D735000) and Finasteride. 17β-Carboxyandrost-4-en-3-one shows weak inhibition of Steroid 5-alpha-reductase and Androgen Receptor antagonism.
