Clofezone (Perclusone), an analgesic and anti-inflammatory agent, is a drug that was used to treat joint and muscular pain, mostly in rheumatic diseases. Clofezone is a compound preparation of phenylbutazone and clofexamide. Tolerance of Perclusone was very good, no side-effects were observed.

Chromonar is a coronary vasodilator agent, it dilates coronary vessels and increases coronary blood flow volume rate, contributes to the development of collateral circulation (with prolonged use), improves metabolic processes in myocardium. The mechanism of action of a role played by its inhibitory effect on phosphodiesterase, accompanied by accumulation in the cells of cyclic 3 ', 5'-adenosine monophosphate. Due to the relatively low therapeutic efficacy Chromonar use is limited, mainly in the early stages of coronary heart disease with angina pectoris in the absence of long-standing and long strokes, when there is no expressed stenotic process.
Laquinimod is a new orally available carboxamide derivative, which is currently developed for relapsing remitting (RR) and chronic progressive (CP) forms of multiple sclerosis (MS; RRMS or CPMS) as well as neurodegenerative diseases. The mechanism of action of laquinimod is not fully elucidated because the molecular target is not known. Treatment with laquinimod led to a significant and persistent increase in brain-derived neuroprotective factor (BDNF) serum levels compared to placebo treatment. In human studies, a decrease of pro-inflammatory and an increase of anti-inflammatory cytokines have been measured. After commercial launch the unexpected severe cardiac adverse events (AEs) such as serositis, pericarditis, and myocardial infarction were detected.

Sitafloxacin hydrate (DU-6859a, Gracevit), a new-generation, broad-spectrum oral fluoroquinolone that is very active against many Gram-positive, Gram-negative and anaerobic clinical isolates, including strains resistant to other fluoroquinolones, was recently approved in Japan for the treatment of respiratory and urinary tract infections. This is a new quinolone oral antibacterial to inhibit DNA replication of bacteria at the time of infection, and shows antibacterial action. Sitafloxacin is active against methicillin-resistant staphylococci, Streptococcus pneumoniae and other streptococci with reduced susceptibility to levofloxacin and other quinolones and enterococci. Sitafloxacin has also demonstrated activity against clinical isolates of Klebsiella pneumoniae (including about 67% of strains producing extended-spectrum, beta-lactamases and resistant to ciprofloxacin), Enterobacter cloacae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa with some activity against quinolone-resistant strains and Acinetobacter baumannii. The in vitro activity against anaerobes is comparable to imipenem or metronidazole. Sitafloxacin showed dual inhibitory activity against both enzymes: Streptococcus pneumoniae DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV.
Etoperidone is an atypical antidepressant introduced in Europe in 1977. The activity of etoperidone is made mainly by its major metabolite 1-(3'-chlorophenyl)piperazine (mCPP). mCPP binds with different affinity to most of the serotonergic receptors and adrenergic receptors. This metabolite is an agonist of 5-HT2c and an antagonist of 5-HT2a. Part of etoperidone structure contributes to the activity in the α-adrenergic receptors. Etoperidone has been studied for the treatment of depression, tremors in Parkinson, extrapyramidal symptoms and male impotence. It is not certain if it was ever approved and marketed but its current status is withdrawn.
Pyridoxamine (PM) is one of three natural forms of vitamin B6. It is a critical transient intermediate in catalysis of transamination reactions by vitamin B6-dependent enzymes. In preclinical or clinical trials PM has demonstrated pharmacological potential for treatment of diabetic nephropathy, diabetic retinopathy, and hyperlipidemia, and for use in kidney stone preventive therapies. Although its precise mode of action in vivo is not yet clear, it is likely that at least three mechanisms are at play: inhibition of post-Amadori steps of the Maillard reaction; scavenging of reactive carbonyl compounds; and inhibition of toxic effects of ROS. Pyridoxamine was marketed as a dietary supplement, often as the hydrochloride salt, pyridoxamine dihydrochloride. However, in the United States, the FDA ruled in January 2009 that pyridoxamine must be regulated as a pharmaceutical drug because it is the active ingredient in Pyridorin, a drug designed to prevent the progression of diabetic nephropathy.

Ractopamine hydrochloride, a beta-adrenoceptor agonist, is a phenethanolamine salt approved for use as a feed additive. Recently published studies indicate that the RR-isomer (butopamine) is the stereoisomer with the most activity at the beta-adrenoceptor. Butopamine was shown to be a non-selective ligand at the beta1 and beta2-adrenoceptors, but signal transduction is more efficiently coupled through the b2-adrenoceptor than the beta1 adrenoceptor. Therefore, the RR-isomer of ractopamine is considered to be a full agonist at the beta2-adrenoceptor and a partial agonist at the beta1¬adrenoceptor. These results are consistent with the pharmacological characterization of racemic ractopamine in isolated cardiac (atria) and smooth muscle (costo-uterine, vas deferens, trachea), which shows a maximal response at beta2- and a submaximal response at beta1¬adrenoceptors when compared with the full beta1 and beta2-adrenoceptor agonist isoproterenol. Butopamine is chemically similar to dobutamine but, unlike dobutamine, it is not a catecholamine. Butopamine induces a positive inotropic response in patients with congestive heart failure but for equal increments in cardiac output, butopamine increases heart rate more than dobutamine. Butopamine inproved cardiac performance in patients with ventricular dysfunction and congestive heart failure. Butopamine was prepared by Tuttle et al (unpublished data) and has a structure similar to dobutamine. This compound is refractory to the action of catechol-O-methyl transferase and thus it is orally active and has a longlasting action. Clinical findings in acute heart failure cases have been reported by Thompson et al. Intravenous administration produced an increase in the cardiac index and heart rate and shortening of systolic time intervals. A few patients experienced ventricular ectopy, especially with the higher doses used. No data pertaining to oral administration are available.

Pelubiprofen, 2-[4-(Oxocyclohexylidene methyl)phenyl]propionic acid, is one of the 2-arylpropionic acid class of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It has wide variety of indications proposed: osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, musculoskeletal pain, post-operative trauma, backache, neck-shoulder syndrome and dental pain. Pelubiprofen is a prodrug of 2-arylpropionic acid with relatively selective effects on cyclooxygenase-2 activity. Antiinflammatory properties of pelubiprofen are due to its ability to both decrease prostaglandin synthesis by inhibiting the activities of cyclooxygenases (COXs) and IkB kinase-b (IKK-b). Pelubiprofen was found to have an anti-edema effect in the carrageenan-induced paw edema model in rats, one of the well-established acute inflammatory models in vivo. Pelubiprofen was well tolerated in single doses up to 120mg and at a dosage of 180 mg/day. No drug accumulation was evident, suggesting that it may be useful for long term treatment.

Fe-59 is an isotope of iron. It has a half-life of 44.5 days and decays by emitting a beta particle. In medicine, ferrous citrate Fe 59 is indicated, by intravenous administration, to determine various parameters of the kinetics of iron metabolism, including plasma iron clearance, plasma iron turnover rate, and the utilization of iron in new red blood cells. An oxidized form of iron cation, ferric cation Fe59, is also used to study the processes of iron metabolism.

Isocarbacyclin methylester (clinprost) (isocarbacyclin methylester; methyl 5-{(1S,5S,6R,7R)-7-hydroxy-6-[(E)- (S)-3-hydroxy-1-octenyl] bicyclo[3.3.0]oct-2-en-3-yl} pentanoate) and its active metabolite, isocarbacyclin (TEI-7165), are chemically stable PGI2 analogues. TTC- 909 is a drug preparation of clinprost incorporated into lipid microspheres (LM). The hypothetical sequence of events for TTC-909 to exert pharmacological effects is as follows: the LM would deliver clinprost to most tissues including the blood and the brain, clinprost would be released gradually from the LM, and then the clinprost would be hydrolyzed to TEI-7165 by esterase action to exert pharmacological activity. Both clinprost and TEI-7165 inhibit platelet aggregation and platelet adhesion in vitro and suppress prostaglandin F2 (PGF2 )-induced contraction of isolated canine arteries. TTC-909 also has vasodilative and anti-platelet activity in vivo, similar to PGI2. TTC-909 was shown to inhibit cerebral infarction, maybe by improving cerebral blood flow and by protecting against neuronal damage.
