Conditions:

Metralindole (Inkazan) is a reversible inhibitor of monoamine oxidase A (RIMA) which was used in Russia as an antidepressant. Inkasan (3-methyl-8-methoxy-3H, 1,2,5,6- tetrahydropyrazine /1.2.3-ab/-beta-carboline hydrochloride) has pharmacological properties characteristic of antidepressants. The clinical antidepressant effect of inkasan is combined with stimulating action. The drug is primarily indicated for patients in whom adynamic (anergic) disturbances are predominant in the clinical picture of depression.

THALLOUS OXIDE (Thallium (1) Oxide) has been used in the manufacturing of glass of a high coefficient of refraction for optical purposes (thallium flint glass) and for artificial gems. Thallium oxide is black in color and is the inorganic compound of Thallium and Oxygen. THALLOUS OXIDE compounds are typically insoluble in aqueous solutions (water) and extremely stable making them useful in ceramic structures as simple as producing clay bowls to advanced electronics (e.g. tablets) and in light weight structural components in aerospace and electrochemical applications such as fuel cells. THALLOUS OXIDE is toxic by ingestion. It has previously been used as rat poison and ant killer, but its use is prohibited since 1972.

Diamminedichlorodihydroxyplatinum IV is the platinum-based antineoplasticis agent. Oxaliplatin is cis, cis, trans- isomer of Diamminedichlorodihydroxyplatinum IV. Oxaliplatin show high stability and therefore can be utilized orally for outpatient care. Although oxoplatin is capable of binding directly to DNA after prolonged incubation, platinum(IV) agents are considered to be largely inert prodrugs that are converted to highly cytotoxic platinum(II) compounds by reducing substances, enzymes, or microenvironmental conditions. Reaction of oxoplatin with 0.1 M hydrogen chloride mimicking gastric acid yields cis-diammine-tetrachlorido-platinum(IV) (DATCP[IV]), which exhibits two-fold increased activity. The oxoplatin metabolite DATCP(IV) constitutes a potent cytotoxic derivative that may be produced by gastric acid or acidic areas prevailing in larger solid tumors, depending on the respective pharmaceutical formulation of oxoplatin.

Indium sulfate (In2(SO4)3) is a grayish-white powder. It is hydroscopic and has a monoclinic crystal structure. Indium sulfate is being marketed as the newest miracle dietary supplement and is falsely advertised as a dietary aid as an enhancer of food and mineral absorption, an anti-aging supplement, a blood pressure lowering supplement. There is no scientific support for claims that indium has beneficial effects. Indium sulfate can cause the accumulation of indium in the kidney, oxidative damage, pathological changes and dysfunction in the kidney of rats.
Indium is a rare, soft silvery-white metal. It is used in some manufacturing process, butt here is no known biological role for indium in the human body. Although there are claims that indium increases hormone production, stimulates immune system function, and increases energy, there is no reliable scientific evidence to support such claims. In vitro, indium-III salts appears to have cytotoxic activity against melanoma. Indium cation (Indium-III), when complexed with 8-hydroxyquinoline (oxine), has been employed as a radioactive platelet label for thrombus imaging in animals and man. The short half-life (2.8 d) and high yield of gamma photons of 111In make it ideal for in vitro counting and external imaging. Indium In 111 ProstaScint (Capromab Pendetide) is indicated as a diagnostic imaging agent in newly-diagnosed patients with biopsy-proven prostate cancer, thought to be clinically-localized after standard diagnostic evaluation (eg chest x-ray, bone scan, CT scan, or MRI), who are at high-risk for pelvic lymph node metastases. It is not indicated for patients who are not at high risk. Indium In 111 ProstaScint is also indicated as a diagnostic imaging agent in post-prostatectomy patients with a rising PSA and a negative or equivocal standard metastatic evaluation in whom there is a high clinical suspicion of occult metastatic disease.

Phenocoll is an antineuralgic, analgesic and antipyretic drug. It is a derivative of phenacetin and thus has the same mechanism of action (COX-2 inhibition). Hydrochloride and salicylate salts of phenocoll were used to control inflammation in such diseases as gout, influenza, malaria, rheumatism and pleuritis. The drug is no longer available for marketing.
