Diethylamino hydroxybenzoyl hexyl benzoate (DHHB) is an organic UV filter with high absorption in the UV-A range that minimizes the overexposure of human skin to ultraviolet radiation that may lead to acute and chronic photodamage. In in vitro studies, DHHB was not shown to be mutagenic, clastogenic, or phototoxic. DHHB was approved in Europe in 2005, is also marketed in the U.S., South America, Mexico, Japan and Taiwan, and is used in concentrations up to 10% in sunscreen products, either alone or in combination with other UV absorbers. Only a minor amount of diethylamino hydroxybenzoyl hexyl benzoate will undergo percutaneous absorption and most will remain in the upper layers of the skin. Fluorescence spectroscopy showed that DHHB and avobenzone (another chemical sunscreen ingredient) interact by a static quenching mechanism and DHHB did not affect the avobenzone excited state lifetime.
Citronellal is one of the main constituents of the essential oil from lemongrass (Cymbopogon). Citronellal is a major isolate from Cymbopogon plants, lemon-scented gum, and lemon-scented tea tree. Citronellal is a well-known plant-derived mosquito repellent. In addition, citronellal is very effective repellent against Sitophilus zeamais. Citronellal showed anticandidal activity against C. albicans and non-albicans species of Candida. Citronellal is effective as an analgesic compound in various rodent pain models, with its action probably mediated by the inhibition of peripheral mediators as well as central inhibitory mechanisms that could be related to its strong antioxidant effect observed in vitro.

Carvone is a monoterpene ketone that is found in several essential oils and used in the flavor industry, alternative medicine and as starting material for the asymmetric total synthesis of natural products. Carvone is produced in two enantiomeric forms: (R)-(-)-carvone, is found in mint leaves, and it is a principal contributor to the distinctive odor of mint. The other form, (S)-(+)-carvone, is found in caraway seeds. This form has a very different smell and is typically used to flavor rye bread and other Eastern European foods. S-(+)-Carvone is also used to prevent premature sprouting of potatoes during storage, being marketed in the Netherlands for this purpose under the name Talent. In the body, in vivo studies indicate that both enantiomers of carvone are mainly metabolized into dihydrocarvonic acid, carvonic acid and uroterpenolone.

Prezatide is a tripeptide molecule consisiting of lysine, glycine and histidine, also known as GHK (glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine), that forms a complex with copper ions. Prezatide is used in cosmetic products (skin and hair) and is known help wound healing. Prezatide increases the synthesis and deposition of type I collagen and glycosaminoglycan.
