Cobalt Disodium Edetate (Cobalt EDTA) is a derivative of Ethylenediamine Tetraacetic Acid. Ethylenediamine Tetraacetic Acid is a Sequestering / Chelating Agent. Cobalt EDTA is a Sequestering Agent, which is normally used in Agriculture and Veterinary application for correcting Cobalt deficiency. Cobalt Disodium Edetate (Cobalt disodium ethylenediamine tetraacetate, Copoietin A) appears to represent the most satisfactory type of Cobalt-containing hemopoietic agents tested and should be worthy of clinical trial as a therapeutic agent for the treatment of anemia.

Originator

Curator's Comment: The first use of cobalt compounds as cyanide antagonists was advocated by Antal J. in 1894. http://www.firesmoke.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/Cyanide_As_A_Weapon.pdf
