Chlorfluazuron is a benzoylurea fluorinated nitrogen heterocyclic insect growth regulator with unique mechanism of action, high efficiency, low toxicity and being environmentally friendly. Chlorfluazuron inhibits biosynthesis of chitin of an important constituent in insect cuticle, loses cuticle elasticity and firmness and results in abortive molting. Chlorfluazuron is registered for use in Australia, Vietnam and the Philippines, but not in the USA or the EU.
