RG3039, also known as PF-06687859, is the first small molecule developed specifically for treatment of Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). This drug is used in SMA patients that have reached early stage clinical trials. It was shown that RG3039 improved survival, function and motor unit pathologies in SMA mouse models. It is known, that RG3039 is a potent inhibitor of the mRNA decapping scavenger enzyme (DcpS). DcpS is a nuclear shuttling protein that binds and hydrolyzes the m(7)GpppN mRNA cap structure and a modulator of RNA metabolism. Therefore, DcpS represents an intrigueing therapeutic target for modulating gene expression by a small molecule. The exact therapeutic mechanism remains unknown.

F-15599 is a novel agonist with high selectivity and efficacy at serotonin 5-HT(1A) receptors. In signal transduction, electrophysiological and neurochemical tests, F-15599 preferentially activates post-synaptic 5-HT(1A)Rs in rat frontal cortex. Such a profile may translate to an improved profile of therapeutic activity for mood disorders. [(18)F]F-15599 is a radiofluorinated agonist presenting interesting characteristics for probing in vitro and in vivo the high-affinity states of the 5-HT(1A) receptors. The Rett Syndrome Research Trust awarded a grant to Neurolixis to advance F-15599 to clinical development.

Gentamicin C2 together with epimer C2a is a part of the antibiotic of the aminoglycoside group, gentamicin. Gentamicin C2 has a methyl group in the 6′ position. Gentamicin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that binds to the prokaryotic ribosome, inhibiting protein synthesis in susceptible bacteria. Gentamicin is bactericidal in vitro against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.

Benzylpenilloic acid is a metabolite of benzylpenicillin. It is produced by hydrolysis of when beta-lactam ring of benzylpenicillin. Along with some other metabolites of penicillin, benzylpenilloic acid is responsible for the allergic reaction to beta-lactam antibiotic. It is a component of a minor determinant mixture (MDM) reagent which is used to evaluate sensitivity to penicillin in the clinic.
