Levomenol, or more formally α-(−)-bisabolol or (-)-alpha-bisabolol was identified as a major constituent of Salvia runcinata essential oil, a plant indigenous to South Africa. This compound exhibits pharmacological properties such as analgesic, antibiotic and anticancer activities. Mutagenicity and genotoxicity of bisabolol have also been investigated. Due to the low toxicity associated with bisabolol the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted this constituent with Generally Regarded as Safe (GRAS) status, which has promoted its use as an active ingredient in several commercial products. Recently provided experiments have shown the anti-amyloidogenic potential and anti-apoptotic property of the α-bisabolol against Aβ25-35 induced neurotoxicity in PC12 cells. This compound prevented the oligomers formation as well as disaggregates the matured fibrils. It is known, that of the multiple etiological factors of Alzheimer's disease (AD), the accumulation of senile plaques (SPs) particularly as Aβ oligomers correlates with the relentlessness cognitive impairment in AD patients and play a vital role in AD pathology. As a conclusion obtained properties of α-bisabolol allowed suggesting, that this compound could be used as an excellent therapeutic drug to combat AD. Besides, anti-cancer activity of α-bisabolol was also studied. α-Bisabolol inhibited invasiveness and motility in pancreatic cancer through kisspeptin 1 receptor (KISS1R) activation. Further investigations are necessary to clarify the precise mechanisms of α-bisabolol activity for clinical application as a novel treatment for pancreatic cancer.

Aspartame (l-aspartyl-l-phenylalanine methyl ester) known to the public as NutraSweet has been the subject of controversy since it first became an ingredient in food products. The perceived sweetness of aspartame in humans is due to its binding of the heterodimer G-protein coupled receptor formed by the proteins TAS1R2 and TAS1R3. Aspartame was used in experiments on animals to study its role in delays of osteoarthritis. It was shown, that aspartame improved bone cortical density and muscle mass, and might contribute to a better quality of life for these diseased animals. In addition, was investigated the effect in patients with sickle cell anemia. It was revealed, that oral administration of aspartame lead inhibition of sickle cells. That effect was explained by binding aspartame with two human Bence Jones proteins: Mcg and Sea. Thus was suggested, that aspartame could interfere with sickle hemoglobin fibril formation. Then several studies showed that aspartame had no effect on the polymerization of sickle hemoglobin.

Tocophersolan (Vedrop, tocofersolan) or d-alpha-Tocopheryl Polyethylene Glycol 1000 Succinate (TPGS) is a watersoluble derivative of the natural active (d-alpha) isomer of vitamin E. The active constituent of the medicinal product is essentially vitamin E (alpha tocopherol). Chronic congenital or hereditary cholestasis is a clinical condition where vitamin E deficiency results from an impaired bile secretion. Decreased intestinal absorption observed in chronic congenital or hereditary cholestatic patients is due to decreased bile secretion and the resulting decrease in intestinal cellular absorption. As a result, fatsoluble vitamins (i.e. vit. E) are not absorbed properly and deficiency can occur. Tocophersolan (Vedrop) is used to treat or prevent vitamin E deficiency (low vitamin E levels). It is used in children up to the age of 18 years who have congenital or hereditary chronic cholestasis and who cannot absorb vitamin E from the gut. Tocophersolan (Tocofersolan) can be absorbed from the gut in children who have difficulty absorbing fats and vitamin E from the diet. This can increase vitamin E levels in the blood and help to prevent neurological deterioration (problems in the nervous system) due to vitamin E deficiency. No treatment-related findings were reported, as all clinical observations and findings at autopsy were similar in treatment and control groups. In many of the studies, the LD50 was not
determined as tocofersolan was well tolerated.

Formestane (trade name Lentaron) is a type I, steroidal, selective aromatase inhibitor used in the treatment of estrogen receptor-positive breast cancer in postmenopausal women. Formestane has poor oral bioavailability and thus must be administered fortnightly (bi-weekly) by intramuscular injection. Formestane is a second generation, irreversible, steroidal aromatase inhibitor. It inhibits the aromatase enzyme responsible for converting androgens to estrogens, thereby preventing estrogen production. Estrogen-sensitive breast cancer cells depend on estrogen for viability. Thus removal of estrogen from the body can be an effective treatment for hormone-sensitive breast cancers. Common side effects associated with the use of an aromatase inhibitor include hot flashes, joint pain, weakness, fatigue, mood changes, depression, high blood pressure, swelling of the arms/legs, and headache. Aromatase inhibitors may also decrease bone mineral density, which may lead to osteoporosis and an increase in fractures in susceptible patients. Formestane was the first selective aromatase inhibitor to be developed as a prescription drug, first appearing in Europe during the mid-1990s under the Lentaron Depot brand name. With the emergence of newer and more effective aromatase inhibitors, however, formestane soon lost market presence at a rapid rate. Most of the initial Lentaron preparations have since been discontinued. Currently, formestane (categorized as an anti-estrogenic agent) is prohibited from use in sports in accordance with the regulations of the World Anti-Doping Agency. The drug remains available today, but only in a small number of nations. This includes Austria, Brazil, Czech Republic, Hong Kong, and Turkey.

a-Hydroxytriazolam is a major urinary and blood metabolite of the benzodiazepine, triazolam, a pharmaceutical used to treat severe insomnia. It is suitable for use in LC/MS or GC/MS applications for clinical toxicology, forensic analysis, urine drug testing, or pharmaceutical research. Triazolam is a triazolobenzodiazepine with hypnotic properties, advocated for use in acute or chronic insomnia, situational insomnia in hospitalised patients, and insomnia associated with other disease states. As triazolam has a relatively short half-life of about 2 to 3 hours in healthy subjects and has only 1 short acting active metabolite, alpha-hydroxytriazolam. a-Hydroxytriazolam is reported to have 50
to 100 % of the pharmacological activity of the
parent compound. Triazolam (marketed in English-speaking countries under the brand names Apo-Triazo, Halcion, Hypam, and Trilam) is a benzodiazepine drug. It possesses pharmacological properties similar to that of other benzodiazepines, but it is generally only used as a sedative to treat severe insomnia. In addition to the hypnotic properties triazolam possesses, amnesic, anxiolytic, sedative, anticonvulsant and muscle relaxant properties are also present.
