Perfluorooctane sulfonic acid (PFOS) is a global pollutant and an environmental toxicant, widely used as a fabric protector, serving as a stain repellant in drapery, carpets, and clothing. While its use in Europe, Canada, and the U.S. has been banned due to its human toxicity, it continues to be used in China and other developing countries as a global pollutant. However, epidemiologic evidence does not support a causal association between PFOS exposure and cancer risk in humans. However, in utero exposure to PFOS adversely affect the fetal synthesis and secretion of reproductive hormones (e.g., testosterone, estradiol, and inhibin B) in humans. Since the half-life of PFOS is relatively long, at 5.4-yr, even low-dose exposure to PFOS can accumulate in the body over an extended period of time. The mechanisms of PFOA -induced hepatic dysfunction are not completely understood but was shown, that PFOS induces their effects via targeting hepatocyte nuclear factor 4-alpha (HNF4α) and thus altered its conformation. In addition, some recent experiments in vitro revealed, that PFOS-induced male reproductive dysfunction can possibly be managed through an intervention on Akt1/2 expression.

(R)-Ropivacaine (Dextroropivacaine) is a voltage-dependent potassium channel blocker with local anesthetic activity. (S)-Ropivacaine is a medication used for the production of local or regional anesthesia for surgery and for acute pain management. Ropivacaine shows a difference in channel blockade between two enantiomers, and R-Ropivacaine shows greater cardiotoxicity than (S)-Ropivacaine. (R)-Ropivacaine is the impurity in commercial formulations of Ropivacaine.
Lupinine is a bitter tasting quinolizidine alkaloid present in Lupinus species of the Family Fabaceae. It has been shown to lower the locomotion excitation brought on by ethanol anesthesia in mice. Lupinine has also shown some ability to inhibit human and rabbit cholinesterases.

Erucic acid is a monounsaturated omega-9 fatty acid found mainly in the Brassica family of plants such as canola, rapeseed, wallflower seed, mustard seed as well as Brussels spouts and broccoli. Erucic acid has many of the same uses as mineral oils but with the advantage that it is more readily biodegradable. Its high tolerance to temperature makes it suitable for transmission oil. Its ability to polymerize and dry means it can be - and is - used as a binder for oil paints. Increased levels of eicosenoic acid (20:ln9) and erucic acid (22:1n9) have been found in the red blood cell membranes of autistic subjects with developmental regression. While studies done on laboratory animals in the early 1970s show that erucic acid appears to have toxic effects on the heart at high enough doses, an association between the consumption of rapeseed oil and increased myocardial lipidosis, or heart disease, has not been established for humans. While there are reports of toxicity from long-term use of Lorenzo's oil (which contains erucic acid and other ingredients), there are no reports of harm to people from dietary consumption of erucic acid. In 2003, Food Standards Australia set a provisional tolerable daily intake (PTDI) for an average adult of about 500 mg/day of erucic acid, extrapolated based on "the level that is associated with increased myocardial lipidosis in nursing pigs."
cis-(-)-Sertraline (aka 1R,4R-sertraline) is the therapeutically inactive enantiomer of Sertraline. Sertraline has four stereoisomers: (1R,4R), (1S,4S), (1R,4S), and (1S,4R), of which the (1S,4S) isomer is the active therapeutic compound. Sertraline is sold under the brand name Zoloft (and others) as an anti-depressant acting as a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor. The bio-activity of sertraline is restricted to (1S,4S), and (1R,4R), where (1S,4S) is most potent.

SKF-83822 is a D1/D5 receptor agonist, which activates D1-like receptors coupled to stimulation of adenyl cyclase (AC), but not phosphoinositide (PI) hydrolysis. SKF-83822 is used as a tool compound to study the role of AC-coupled D1 receptors.
Tenuazonic acid is one of the major Alternaria mycotoxins commonly found as a natural contaminant in food. Tenuazonic acid contamination has been linked to esophageal cancer in human populations at risk of high exposure. Tenuazonic acid inhibits protein synthesis by suppression at the ribosome. Tenuazonic acid was shown to inhibit 12-O-tetradecanoyl phorbol-13-acetate (TPA) induced ornithine decarboxylase (ODC) activity in a mouse model, and in turn suppressed mouse skin tumor promotion. In addition, this compound has been shown to be a new type of Photosystem II inhibitor.
Raising agent, used as an emulsifier; it also increases the activity of antioxidants. It prevents clumping in powders. Also used as a magnesium salt in functional foods and food supplements. FDA approved (GRAS).
Lead Benzoate is an inorganic salt that can be used as steel corrosion inhibitor.
