Experiments were carried out on isolated electrically driven (0.3-3 Hz) right ventricular papillary muscle and on left atrial
muscle of guinea-pig. The transmembrane potentials were recorded by means
of conventional microelectrode technique. The slow response APs were elicited with isoprenaline 5x10(-7)M in partially depolarized atrial and ventricular preparations. In atrium Solpecainol [EGYT-2936] only at 10(-4) M caused a significant decrease of the maximum rate of rise of AP (Vmax) and it did not influence the slow AP. The frequency-dependent effect on
Vmax of 10(-5)M of EGYT-2936 was similar to that of lidocaine 10(-5)M. The drug at 10(-5)M significantly depressed OS and Vmax of slow AP.
