Description
Curator's Comment: It should be noted that at least one study colloquially refers to 'riboflavin tetraacetate' as 'riboflavin acetate'

Riboflavin 5'-acetate (aka riboflavin acetate) is a derivative of riboflavin which has a single acetylation on the ribityl moiety. There is a patent which describes the use of 'riboflavin acetate' in combination with pravastatin to reduce the serum cholesterol of beagles. However, it should be noted that riboflavin tetraacetate is sometimes colloquially referred to as riboflavin acetate.

Curator's Comment: referenced study was conducted in beagle.
Riboflavin Acetate was combined with Pravastatin and delivered to male beagle dogs orally after a 2-3 hour fast for a period of 11 days. Approximately 10 mL of blood was collected from the cephalic vein 14 and 7 days before drug administration and on day 4, 8 and 12 after dosing commenced. Extracted blood was centrifuged and total cholesterol and ALP in the serum were determined by the CEH-COD-POD and Bessey-Lowry methods. Administered separately both pravastatin and Riboflavin acetate failed to alter total cholesterol levels. When administered in combination total cholesterol levels were reduced by 14.2% after 12 days.
