Cobaltous chloride Co-60 is a gamma emitter used in nuclear medicine in the form of high specific activity sources. Co-60 brachytherapy is used to treat carcinoma of the uterine cervix, the second most common cancer in women and the most common cause of death in cancer patients in the developing countries. Co-60 high dose rate brachytherapy unit is a good choice especially for the centers with a small number of brachytherapy procedures. The retrospective study is based on data of 15 patients of carcinoma cervix (Ca-cx) treated with Co-60 high-dose-rate intracavitary brachytherapy with dose of 21 Gy in three fractions with source step size of 2.5 mm after external beam radiotherapy of 46 Gy.
