MK-0767 is a potent hypoglycaemic insulin sensitizer being evaluated by Kyorin with potential as an antidiabetic agent. MK-0767 acts as a dual agonist of the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors alpha and gamma, induced high-affinity interactions of PPARα and PPARγ with the transcriptional coactivator CBP in vitro. In ob/ob mice, MK-0767 normalized hyperglycemia and hyperinsulinemia with equal or greater potency and efficacy than pioglitazone. Treatment of hamsters with MK-0767 produced substantial reductions in blood cholesterol and triglycerides. In dogs, MK-0767 reduced serum cholesterol levels with a potency more than 10-fold greater than simvastatin. The efficacies of MK-0767 and simvastatin were additive when given together.
Licofelone (ML 3000) is a pyrrolizine derivative originally discovered by Merckle GmbH and developed by EuroAllaince with a unique pharmacological profile, which comprises optimal gastrointestinal tolerability and high analgesic and anti-inflammatory activity. These effects are due to balanced and selective inhibition of both cyclo-oxygenase and 5-lipoxygenase. Inhibition of 5-lipoxygenase may reduce the gastrointestinal toxicity associated with other non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, which only inhibit cyclooxygenase. Licofelone also has antipyretic and antiaggregatory properties. Clinical and preclinical trials were also undertaken for osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, pain and inflammation. However, development for these indications appear to have been discontinued.

Phenylacetate is the ester of a phenol and acetic acid. It is a metabolite of anticancer drug phenylbutyrate (PB), natural neurotransmitter phenylethylamine. Naturally, it is an odorant found in strawberries, passion fruit, and black tea. Phenylacetate level in urine was used as a marker for the diagnosis of some forms of unipolar major depressive disorders. Phenylacetate is used as a tool substrate to study esterase activity in the blood of patients in clinical studies of the effect of nutritional supplements on paraoxonase-1 levels.

Phenyl benzoate is a white powdery organic compound that falls into the broad category of chemicals known as esters. The compound is formed in a reaction between phenol, sodium hydroxide and benzonyl chloride. The compound is solid at room temperature, but can form an oily liquid at a relatively low temperature. Phenyl benzoate can be used in a variety of polyesters, which have applications in products from clothing to heavy industry. One use that takes advantage of the electrical properties of phenyl benzoate is the development of liquid crystal displays. Phenyl benzoate based liquid crystals have excellent compatibility characteristics with other materials used in liquid crystal displays, such as biphenyl, phenylcyclohexane, bicyclohexane and fluorine types, especially at low temperatures. Phenyl benzoate is considered an excellent starting material for the production of optical components, particularly high quality lenses for still and motion picture cameras.
