Immune globulin human (Human immunoglobulin) is a mixture of IgG1 and other antibodies derived from healthy human plasma and used to strengthen the body's natural defense system (immune system) to reduce the risk of infection in people with weakened immune systems. Human immunoglobulin is used as replacement therapy for inherited humoral immunodeficiency disorders, such as severe combined immunodeficiency syndrome, x-linked agammaglobulinemia, and Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome. Human immunoglobulin interacts with a number of different components of the immune system, including cytokines, complement, Fc receptors, and several immunocompetent cell surface molecules. Human immunoglobulin also acts on various effector cells of the immune system (B and T lymphocytes, dendritic cells, etc.) and regulates a wide range of genes. Human immune globulin competitively blocks gamma Fc receptors, preventing the binding and ingestion of phagocytes and inhibiting platelet depletion. Human immunoglobulin contains a number of different antibodies that prevent infection by attaching pathogenic microorganisms to the surface and facilitating their removal before they can infect cells. Antibodies remove pathogens by activating complement, agglutination or precipitation, blocking the pathogen receptor, “tagging” macrophages, or neutralizing the pathogen toxins. Serious adverse reactions are observed during intravenous treatment in clinical studies of aseptic meningitis. The most common adverse reactions were headache, fatigue, hyperthermia, nausea, chills, severity, pain in the limbs, diarrhea, migraine, dizziness, vomiting, cough, urticaria, asthma, sore throat and throat, rash, myalgia, itching, and cardiac murmur. During clinical trials of subcutaneous treatment, no serious adverse reactions were observed.

Dehydroepiandrosterone (INTRAROSA™, prasterone) is a major C19 steroid produced from cholesterol by the adrenal cortex. It is also produced in small quantities in the testis and the ovary. Dehydroepiandrosterone (INTRAROSA, prasterone) is structurally similar to, and is a precursor of, androstenedione, testosterone, estradiol, estrone and estrogen. It indicated for the treatment of moderate to severe dyspareunia, a symptom of vulvar and vaginal atrophy, due to menopause. The mechanism of action of dehydroepiandrosterone (INTRAROSA, prasterone) in postmenopausal women with vulvar and vaginal atrophy is not fully established.
CMX157 is a lipid (1-0-hexadecyloxypropyl) conjugate of the acyclic nucleotide analog tenofovir (TFV) with activity against both wild-type and antiretroviral drug-resistant HIV strains, including multidrug nucleoside/nucleotide analog-resistant viruses. CMX157 was designed to mimic lysophosphatidylcholine to take advantage of natural lipid uptake pathways and to achieve high intracellular concentrations of the active antiviral, with the aim of increasing the effectiveness of TFV against wild-type and mutant HIV. CMX157 demonstrated potential to effectively suppress replication of multiNRTI-resistant (MNR) HIV that cannot be treated with any currently available NRTIs, including TDF. It is in phase II clinical trial for HIV infections in USA and phase Ib portion of the phase I/II trial for Hepatitis B in Thailand (PO).
Moxidectin is a semi-synthetic methoxime derivative of LL F-2924α, commonly referred as F-alpha or nemadectin F-alpha is a product of fermentation of Streptomyces cyaneogriseus subsp. noncyanogenus, a bacterial organism isolated in 1983 from a sample of sand from Victoria, Australia. Moxidectin is a potent, broad-spectrum endectocide with activity against a wide range of nematodes, insects and acari. The compound acts by binding to ligand-gated chloride channels, more specifically the subtypes that are gamma-aminobutyric (GABA) mediated and glutamate-gated. The consequence of Moxidectin binding and activation is an increased permeability, leading to an influx of chloride ions and flaccid paralysis of the parasite leading to death. The macrocyclic lactones probably act by binding to and opening glutamate-gated chloride channels found only in neurons and myocytes of invertebrates. Because moxidectin is very lipophilic, it becomes highly concentrated in the serum. When the concentration of moxidectin in the serum is high, moxidectin is able to cross the blood-brain barrier. Once it is in the central nervous system, a macrocyclic lactone stimulates the synaptic secretion of the inhibitory neurotransmitter, GABA. By binding at the receptor site, GABA causes influx of chloride ions into neurons, causing the neurons to become hyperpolarised, which in turn, causes diminution in neuronal activity, resulting in sedation and relaxation of the skeletal muscles. Signs displayed by foals with moxidectin toxicity included dyspnoea, depression, ataxia, weakness, coma and seizures. In a Phase 3 study compared the efficacy, safety and tolerability of moxidectin and ivermectin in subjects infected with Onchocerca volvulus, which is the parasite that causes river blindness.
Penicillin V is a penicillin beta-lactam antibiotic used in the treatment of bacterial infections caused by susceptible, usually gram-positive, organisms. The name "penicillin" can either refer to several variants of penicillin available, or to the group of antibiotics derived from the penicillins. Penicillin V has in vitro activity against gram-positive and gram-negative aerobic and anaerobic bacteria. Cell lysis is then mediated by bacterial cell wall autolytic enzymes such as autolysins; it is possible that Penicillin V interferes with an autolysin inhibitor. Used for the treatment of mild to moderately severe infections (e.g. dental infection, infections in the heart, middle ear infections, rheumatic fever, scarlet fever, skin infections, upper and lower respiratory tract infections) due to microorganisms.
