Conditions:

3,7-Dimethyl-1-propargylxanthine (DMPX) is a selective A2 adenosine receptor antagonist, which is widely used to determine the role of adenosine receptors in different processes or in the development of diseases.

Cytochalasin A is a metabolite of the fungus Drechslera (previously Heiminthosporium) dematioideum. Cytochalasin A is effective as an inhibitor of the cytoskeletal reorganisation. Cytochalasin A is able to inhibit cell proliferation. Cytochalasin A exerts antibacterial action toward gram-positive bacteria. Cytochalasin A was active as an inhibitor of HIV-1 protease.

Conditions:

2',5'-dideoxyadenosine (DDA), a P-site specific adenylate cyclase inhibitor, inhibited the growth of K562 cells and caused them to become benzidine positive. Adenine, a possible metabolite of DDA digestion by purine nucleoside phosphorylase (PNP), also induced erythroid differentiation in K562 cells.

CGS -21680 is an adenosine A2 receptor agonist with IC50 of 22 nM, exhibits 140-fold over A1 receptor. In an isolated perfused working rat heart model, CGS -21680 effectively increases coronary flow with an ED25 value of 1.8 nM. CGS-21680 binds adenosine A2 receptor with high affinity (Kd = 15.5 nM). Novartis originated CGS- 21680 in Switzerland and discontinued its development later.
