Calcium lactate is the salt that consists of two lactate anions for each calcium cation (Ca2+); this salt is used as a calcium supplement to treat hypocalcemia. However, as a source of free calcium, this salt is less convenient than calcium citrate. Calcium lactate inhalation powder also called as PUR118 participated in phase I clinical trials to determine whether this formulation was safe and tolerable in a population of subjects with Cystic Fibrosis (CF). PUR118 also was used in another clinical trials to evaluate its effect on ozone-induced airway Inflammation in healthy normal volunteers in case of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). The obtained results revealed that PUR118 reduced the severity of acute exacerbations in COPD and CF and had the beneficial impacts on mortality, morbidity, and quality of life in affected individuals. However, both studies were discontinued.

Psilocybin is a naturally occurring psychedelic prodrug compound produced by more than 200 species of mushrooms, collectively known as psilocybin mushrooms. Once ingested, psilocybin is rapidly metabolized to the psilocin, which then acts on serotonin receptors in the brain. Psilocybin was identified as the active hallucinogenic compound in magic mushrooms in 1959, but humans have used assorted psilocybin mushrooms in religious ceremonies since prehistoric times. In the 1960's psilocybin was marketed for use as a treatment for various psychoses, however, it was withdrawn from the market when the regulatory environment changed. Recently there has been as renewed interest in studying the medicinal uses of psilocybin for treatment of anxiety, depression, migraine headaches, addictions, and other neuropsychiatric conditions.

N,N-Dimethyl-5-Methoxytryptamine (aka 5-MeO-DMT) is a psychedelic of the tryptamine class. It is found in a wide variety of plant species, and a single psychoactive toad species, the Colorado River toad. Like its close relatives DMT and bufotenin (5-HO-DMT), it has been used as an entheogen in South America. It can also be found in the dart poison traditionally used by the Yanoama Indians of Upper Orinoco. It acts as a non-selective serotonin (5-HT) agonist. -MeO-DMT is O-demethylated by polymorphic cytochrome P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) to an active metabolite, bufotenine. 5-MeO-DMT is classified as a controlled substance in China, Australia, Sweden, Turkey, and the USA.

Litoxetine is a selective serotonin (5-HT) reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) and mixed serotonin agonist-antagonist, which makes it particularly appropriate for treating continence dysfunctions. Litoxetine at concentrations without antimuscarinic properties (10 nM-1 microM) caused concentration-dependent relaxations in the rat isolated oesophageal muscularis mucosae, which reduced carbachol tone up to 37%. Higher litoxetine concentrations (3 microM-300 microM) were associated with marked relaxation up to the abolition of carbachol tone. The antimuscarinic activity of litoxetine, previously demonstrated in the isolated guinea-pig intestine, played a role in the rat isolated oesophageal muscularis mucosae at concentrations greater than 1 microM. The 5-HT-releasing action of litoxetine could account for the potentation by litoxetine of 5-HT-induced relaxation in tissues from untreated rats, which was reversed by pCPA treatment. Litoxetine is in phase II clinical trial for the treatment of urinary incontinence.

Cenisertib (also known as R763) is water-soluble, synthetic small molecule aurora kinase inhibitor with potential antineoplastic activity. Cenisertib is a potent adenine triphosphate-competitive inhibitor of Aurora kinase isoforms A–C, disrupting mitotic spindle activity, blocking cell separation, and leading to polyploidy and cell death. At low nanomolar concentrations, Cenisertib also inhibits other kinases involved in cell survival and proliferation including FLT3, BCR-ABL1, and BCR-ABL1 with T315I mutation. It also inhibits JAK2 kinase, but at higher concentrations. Preclinically, Cenisertib has demonstrated potent antitumor activity as a single agent and in combination treatment in leukemia cell lines, freshly isolated leukemia cells, and leukemia xenograft models. Toxicities appear to be related mainly to the gastrointestinal and hematopoietic systems. In animal models, activity and toxicity depend not only on dose but also on the schedule of administration.

Calcium benzoate is the calcium salt of benzoic acid. Used as a preservative, both antibacterial and antifungal. Calcium benzoate can be found in concentrated pineapple juice.
People who suffer from asthma, aspirin sensitivity or the skin disease urticaria may have allergic reactions and/or find their symptoms become worse following consumption of benzoic acid, particularly in combination with tartrazine (E102). Calcium benzoate (E213) is approved for use as a food additive in the EU, USA and Australia and New Zealand.
