Hydroxynaphthoic acid is a salt part of discontinued drug Bephenium hydroxynaphthoate. It was also shown to have anti-diabetic effect in mice, acting as a chemical chaperone and reducing ER stress.
FLUROGESTONE (9α-FLUORO-11β,17α-DIHYDROXYPROGESTERONE) is a steroidal progestin of the 17α-hydroxyprogesterone group that was never marketed. An acetate ester, flurogestone acetate, is used in veterinary medicine. It has progestational action higher than that of progesterone itself. It is intended for intravaginal use in sheep and goats to induce oestrus synchronisation. The proposed dosage is 1 sponge, impregnated with 30, 40 (for sheep) or 45 mg (for goats) flugestone acetate, which is to be removed after 12 to 14 days from ewes and after 17 to 21 days from goats. Flugestone acetate is not indicated for use in humans.
Thiamphenicol aminoacetate is an antibiotic. It is the methyl-sulfonyl analogue of chloramphenicol and has a similar spectrum of activity, but is 2.5 to 5 times as potent. It is used in many countries as a veterinary antibiotic, but is available in China, Morocco and Italy for use in humans. Thiamphenicol aminoacetate is reported as an ingredient of Urfamycin in Ecuador, Indonesia, Italy, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, Japan. It is indicated for the treatment of GUT, hepatobiliary, respiratory tract, enteric tract infections, typhoid, paratyphoid fever and salmonellosis, brucellosis.

Bifendate is a synthetic intermediate of Schisandrin C and also an anti-HBV drug used in Chinese medicine for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B. Following the intake of Bifendate in rats, the drug was observed to improve liver function by increasing the detoxification process, reducing pathological lesions, and accelerating hepatocyte regeneration. Bifendate can also function as a membrane-stabilizing agent to protect the cell from damage. After treatment with Bifendate, the protein metabolic processes of hepatitis patients were improved, with increased serum albumin levels and decreased globulin levels. Bifendate is a potent inducer of cytochrome proteins (CYPs) and can result in clinically significant interactions. It has been proposed that the increased detoxification capability of Bifendate originates from an increase in the level of P450. Bifendate may function as a protecting agent to prevent drug-induced liver dysfunction by increasing the activity of CYP450.

Silymarin, a plant-derived flavonoid from the plant Silybum marianum, is considered the most potential drug to treat almost all kind of liver diseases, particularly alcoholic liver disease, acute and chronic viral hepatitis and toxins-mediated liver dysfunctions. The main component of the silymarin complex is silybin, synonymous with silibinin, sometimes incorrectly called silybinin, which is a mixture of two diastereomers A and B in approximately 1:1 proportion. The drug possess hepatoprotective and antioxidant activity. The hepatoprotective effect is due to stimulation of synthesis of structural and functional proteins and phospholipids, as well as acceleration of the regeneration of hepatocytes. Antioxidant effect is determined by interaction of bioflavones with free radicals in the liver and its detoxication. In such manner the process of peroxidation of the lipids is interrupted and further liver destruction is prevented. Side effect is a mild laxative effect has occasionally been observed.

Sulpiride is an atypical antipsychotic drug (although some texts have referred to it as a typical antipsychotic) of the benzamide class used mainly in the treatment of psychosis associated with schizophrenia and major depressive disorder, and sometimes used in low dosage to treat anxiety and mild depression. Sulpiride is commonly used in Europe, Russia and Japan. Sulpiride is a selective antagonist at dopamine D2 and D3 receptors. This action dominates in doses exceeding 600 mg daily. In doses of 600 to 1,600 mg sulpiride shows mild sedating and antipsychotic activity. Its antipsychotic potency compared to chlorpromazine is only 0.2 (1/5). In low doses (in particular 50 to 200 mg daily) its prominent feature is antagonism of presynaptic inhibitory dopamine receptors accounting for some antidepressant activity and a stimulating effect. Therefore, it is in these doses used as a second line antidepressant. Racemic and L-sulpiride significantly decreased stimulated serum gastrin concentration, but they did not affect fasting serum gastrin or basal and stimulated gastric acidity. D-sulpiride significantly decreased gastric acid secretion, without affecting serum gastrin levels.

S-Adenosylmethionine (often referred to as SAMe) is a methyl donor and a cofactor for enzyme-catalyzed methylations, including catechol O-methyltransferase (COMT) and DNA methyltransferases (DNMT). Although present in all cells, it is concentrated in liver where 85% of all methylation reactions occur. SAM is anti-apoptotic in normal hepatocytes and normal colon epithelial cells but pro-apoptotic in liver human hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), HepG2 cells and colon cancer cells. Because of structural instability, stable salt forms of SAM are required for its use as an oral drug. The commonly used salts: tosylate, butanedisulfonate, disulfate tosylate, disulfate ditosylate, and disulfate monotosylate. SAMe has been marketed in some European countries since the mid-1980s for the treatment of depression and for other medical conditions such as osteoarthritis (joint disease that causes joint pain and stiffness), fibromyalgia (widespread pain and stiffness). In addition, it is used to treat liver disease and migraine headaches. However, it is not formally approved in the UK for the treatment of depression, and in the USA, it is classified only as a dietary supplement. Some research suggests that it is more effective than placebo in treating mild-to-moderate depression and is just as effective as antidepressant medications without the side effects (headaches, sleeplessness, and sexual dysfunction). In addition, antidepressants tend to take 6 to 8 weeks to begin working, while It seems to begin more quickly. Researchers are not sure how SAMe works to relieve depression. But they speculate it might increase the amount of serotonin in the brain just as some antidepressants do. Many studies have examined injectable forms of SAMe, not oral supplements.
Midecamycin (Acetate) is a macrolide antibiotic with actions and uses similar to those of erythromycin but somewhat less active. It is synthesized from Streptomyces mycarofaciens. It has been given by mouth to treat variety of bacterial infections like respiratory tract, ear, skin infections etc. Antibiotics require constant drug level in body for therapeutic effect. This is achieved by taking the drug at regular interval of time throughout the day and night as prescribed. Midecamycin (Acetate) is primarily indicated in conditions like Bronchitis, Laryngopharyngitis, Otitis media, Periodontitis, Pneumonia, Respiratory tract infections, Skin infections, Subcutaneous abscess, Tonsillitis. Midecamycin inhibits bacterial growth by targeting the 50S ribosomal subunit preventing peptide bond formation and translocation during protein synthesis. Resistance to midecamycin is commonly attributed to mutations in 50S rRNA preventing midecamycin binding allowing the cell to synthesize proteins free of error.
