Calcium Acid Pyrophosphate (CAPP) is an anhydrous phosphate salt. Calcium Acid Pyrophosphate is used mainly as a raising agent in the baking industry, particularly in quick breads and sweet bakery products. CAPP can be used in baking powder, cakes, muffins, biscuits, pancakes, waffles, donuts, whole grain bread, crackers, refrigerated and frozen (yeast) doughs, and for dough strengthening. It is also utilized as a complementary nutrient source for calcium, which can potentially improve the nutritional content of the food it’s used in. No health studies currently argue against the use of Calcium Acid Pyrophosphate. In addition, CAPP can be used as a poultry scald agent to remove feathers from poultry carcasses.

Cyclomethicone 5 (D5) is a clear, alcohol-free and odorless liquid, added to personal skin care products to give them a smoother texture that is more easily applied to the skin. Cyclomethicone 5 is member of cyclomethicone, which are a group of liquid methyl siloxanes that have low viscosity and high volatility. Because molecules of this chemical are too large to enter human pores, and don’t tend to block the active ingredients from entering the skin, cyclomethicone is a commonly used as a skin emollient ingredient. Cyclomethicone 5 can cause minor skin and eye irritation. Some DNA damage has been reported in mouse lymphoma cell assays, and uterine carcinogenicity of Cyclomethicone 5 reported in rats after long‐term exposure. Reduced levels of mRNAs for other DNA repair proteins in human breast epithelial cells were also observed after exposure to Cyclomethicone 5. Cyclomethicone 5 has been defined as a very persistent very bioaccumulative (vPvB) substance of environmental concern, which has led to the submission of a proposal for their restriction in Europe.

N-Vinylpyrrolidinone is a slightly to moderately yellow heterocyclic, reactive vinyl monomer made from the reaction of acetylene and 2-pyrrolidone. The inherent properties of high polarity, low toxicity, water solubility, chemical stability, and pseudo-cationic activity are imparted to its homopolymers and copolymers. N-Vinyl-2-pyrrolidone may irritate the skin and eyes and contact may result in corneal opacity. Inhalation of vapors may irritate the respiratory tract. The N-Vinylpyrrolidinone monomer is commonly used as a reactive diluent in ultraviolet and electron-beam curable polymers applied as inks, coatings or adhesives. Copolymers of N-Vinylpyrrolidinone are used in the above applications and also for textile finishes and sizes, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and as a vehicle for hair spray.
