Molybdenum Disulfide is the inorganic Molybdenum salt often used in dry lubricants and in petroleum refining. Its semiconducting ability and similarity to the carbon-based graphene make molybdenum disulfide of interest to scientists as a possible candidate for use in the manufacture of electronics. Molybdenum Disulfide is often a component of blends and composites that require low friction. For example, it is added to graphite to improve sticking. Molybdenum Disulfide is employed as a cocatalyst for desulfurization in petrochemistry, for example, hydrodesulfurization. The effectiveness of the Molybdenum Disulfide catalysts is enhanced by doping with small amounts of cobalt or nickel. The intimate mixture of these sulfides is supported on alumina. Such catalysts are generated in situ by treating molybdate/cobalt or nickel-impregnated alumina with H2S or an equivalent reagent.

Conditions:

Magnesium formate is a magnesium salt of formic acid. It has been used in studies to develop a multiresidue method for determining pesticides in fruits and vegetables, as well as for the simultaneous determination of tropane alkaloids and glycoalkaloids in grains and seeds. Used for crystallization.
