Dye Yellow 62 is an easy-to-disperse pigment, that finds use in the coloration of rubber, Low-density polyethylene (LDPE), polyvinylchloride (PVC) and polypropylene fibers. The pigment is a calcium-based azo yellow produced from the diazotization and coupling of 4-amino-3- nitro benzene sulfonic acid onto acetoacetotoluidide followed by conversion of the sodium salt to that of calcium. The use of this pigment within the plastics industry has increased over the past several years as a replacement for diarylide yellows, especially under those circumstances that may lead to thermal degradation of the colorant. The pigment is a green shade yellow with good economy and moderate resistance properties to light, acids, and alkali.
