ACTIVE MOIETY |
HB1518 is an anti-UV phototoxic pentapeptide that activates cell cycle checkpoints when keratinocytes are exposed to DNA-damaging elements (mutagens) such as ultraviolet (UV) irradiation, thereby impeding cell division. After mutagen-induced damage, the cell cycle is arrested in the G2 phase, allowing time for DNA repair. However, if checkpoint processes are disrupted or inhibited, cancers (such as DNA mutations) occur less frequently. HB1518 can activate cell cycle regulatory proteins by blocking phosphorylation and avoid mutagen-induced cell or tissue toxicity
