2-Bromobiphenyl can be used as reference compound to investigate extraction efficiency of solid-phase microextraction fibers, based on methacrylic acid-trimethylolpropanetrimethacrylate copolymers. It is used in the synthesis of a novel trispirocyclic hydrocarbon having three 9-fluorene moieties around the core of truxene.

At 1 and 10 ug/ml concentrations, 2-Bromobiphenyl significantly
reduced the in vitro
fertilization (IVF) rate, increased oocyte degeneration, and increased
the incidence of abnormal embryos in the mouse compared to the control.
