Magnesium (butyrate) dibutirate is the magnesium salts of butyric acid. Magnesium butyrate in combination with calcium butyrate as a dietary supplement supports the integrity of the colonic mucosa by supplying a primary fuel for the colonic epithelium. It is recommended for anyone with symptoms of permeable gut and also is recommended for people who have taken an extended course of broad-spectrum antibiotics. Butyrate is a short chain fatty acid that is a potent detoxifier of ammonia and neurotoxins. Butyrate also encourages the formation of friendly bacteria in the gut. Butyrate (calcium/magnesium) could be effective in treating congenital chloride diarrhea.
